The first weekend is in the books and woooo boy, it felt good to see baseball again. Since sports gambling has taken off, college baseball gambling is becoming more and more popular which is interesting to see.
At some point, we would love to see a reputable gambling service with college baseball props.
DBU -110 v. Texas Tech -120, o/u 13
Despite being a Top 25 team (number 22), Dallas Baptist University is currently sitting as a sub-.500 team (1-2) losing two extra inning games to Southeast Missouri. DBU followed up those two devastating loses with a 13-5 win to close out the series on Sunday. DBU’s offense really showed out too in those first three games by smashing a total of seven homeruns and stealing ten bases on 12 attempts to include 7-8 on Sunday. Starting pitcher Luke Eldred lasted only three innings in the season opener. Chandler Arnold shouldered the second game but wound up with the loss. In 5 2/3 innings, Arnold struck out nine and only walked two while giving up a measly two hit hits. In the series finale, Dallas Baptist starter also showed what the rotation can be capable of with an eight strikeout effort from Jacob Meador. They face a fellow Top-25 team in the Texas Tech Red Raiders who lost two of their first three games as well. Across those three games, the Red Raiders failed to hit a homerun and only have one extra base hit (one triple) across 91 official team at-bats. Such a lackluster offense facing off against a robust offense in a midweek showdown is a recipe for disaster for the Red Raiders.
PICK: Dallas Baptist University -110, under 13
Wichita State -110 v. Oklahoma -120, o/u 11.5
The Wichita State Shockers came into the 2022 season with big expectations and were met by a freight train called Louisiana Tech. The Shockers weekend series proved fruitless and winless as they currently sit at 0-3. The Shockers were outscored 21-12 over the weekend. Wichita State will face an Oklahoma Sooner team that had mixed results in their first weekend of action. They beat SEC opponent Auburn in their opener, 3-0, but were dominated in their next game by Arizona, 14-4. They finished their weekend with a quality 6-1 win against the Michigan Wolverines. I have to go with the best offensive team in a mid-week match up. Oklahoma will win and the Shockers will continue to struggle at the plate.
PICK: Oklahoma -120, under 11.5
Tennessee Tech -115 v. Tennessee -115, o/u 14
Tennessee Tech comes into their matchup against Tennessee as a near even opponent which may speak more to Tennessee’s struggles as a program more than Tennessee Tech’s successes. That is a discussion for another team. As it stands, Tennessee Tech is undefeated after running through competition at the South Alabama Invitational Baseball Tournament. On the other side, the Tennessee Volunteers finished off a dominating series against Georgia Southern that saw the Volunteer offense score 33 runs over three games. Infielder Jorel Ortega has been a star through Tennessee’s first three games. The redshirt sophomore has three homeruns and five hits in his first ten at-bats. Ortega is HOT and it will not stop.
PICK: Tennessee -115, over 14
