This installment of the four best NCAA week two games of the 2022 football season is here. It’s a week that features a couple of in-state rivalry games and a meeting between two of the Blue Bloods of the sport, as well as good old-fashioned SEC football between two top SEC East teams. Our first stop is California, as Southern Cal takes on Stanford. Followed by a trip to Iowa as Iowa State and I will meet yet again.
Then it’s down the road heading South for Kentucky and Florida will face off in week two in an early-season conference game before we finish up with the main course as we see the Crimson Tide of Alabama take on the Texas Longhorns in what is a rematch of the 2009 National Championship Game, that kick-started the dynasty of Nick Saban.
Four Best NCAA Games Of Week Two
Alabama vs Texas
It’s always a good game when two bluebloods of the sports decide to get together and play. We saw it in week one with Ohio State and Notre Dame and now we will see it again in week two. If it was up having a matchup like this and every single week of the season would be mandatory between two power five programs with rich tradition and history.
This is yet another season full of the same “Texas is back” talk, while Alabama is looking to rebound from their National Championship Game loss to Georgia. That is why this is easily my top game out of my four best NCAA week two games of the season.
Iowa vs Iowa State
You can always expect a great game when these two schools get together. As their last four meetings have all been decided by ten points or less. The trend of the rivalry heavily favors the Hawkeyes at the moment as they’ve won seven out of the last eight games between these two schools.
However, this year’s Iowa State team may be the best one in a long time as they will be looking to change the trend and snap a six-game losing streak to their in-state rivals. While Iowa will be looking for a 2nd straight trip to the Big Ten championship game this year. That is why this is easily one of my top games out of my four best NCAA week two games of the season.
Florida vs Kentucky
For a while, this was one of the most lopsided yearly games in the history of the sport. As the Florida Gators won 31 straight games against the Kentucky Wildcats and 37 out of 38 dating from 1980 to 2017. Finally, the Kentucky Wildcats picked up a win in 2018 in the swamp in Gainesville.
Since 2018 the series has been split evenly at two games a piece and in the last installment, it was the Wildcats who got the win to snap a two-game Gators win streak. This is also likely to be an important game for both teams in terms of finishing position in the SEC East Standings as well. That is why this is easily one of my top games out of my four best NCAA week two games of the season.
Stanford vs USC
This is certainly going to be one of the more interesting games of the early season slate in college football. As the USC Trojans come in with an entirely revamped program led by new headman Lincoln Riley and new quarterback Caleb Williams. While Stanford and David Shaw will be looking to return the relevance after a rough few seasons.
Well, what better way to return to the top of the Pac-12 than to knock off the presumed king of the Pac-12 this season and beat the Trojans early on in the year. That is why this is easily one of my top games out of my four best NCAA week two games of the season.
Every single week of the 2022 college football season is full of action-packed high stakes matchups and you can check out the entire series here. Week two is by far one of the most packed weeks of the season and this is what the game needs more of these early season weeks that are full of exciting playoff-caliber matchups. Every single week it will get harder and harder to pick out the four best NCAA games in every week.
