What are some other bold predictions for the 2022 NFL season? Will any of these predictions come true?
The NFL season is finally here, the Bills and Rams kick off the season in a huge matchup on Thursday Night Football. With the new season here, that means it is time to lock in and give some bold predictions. From predicting an unlikely MVP to things such as a 5,000-yard passing and 1,000-yard rushing season, anything is possible. That being said, let’s not waste any more time and get into these bold predictions.
Josh Allen Has Historic Season, Wins NFL MVP
Yeah, I know it is not a bold prediction to say Josh Allen wins an NFL MVP this year. He is the favorite to win the award and rightfully so. Allen finished the 2021 campaign with 4,407 passing yards and 36 touchdowns. In just four seasons, Allen has thrown for 14,114 yards, 103 passing touchdowns, 2,325 rushing yards, and 31 rushing touchdowns. I don’t know about you but that is an insane stat line only four years into the NFL.
The bold prediction here is that Allen will throw for 5,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. No quarterback in NFL history has accomplished that stat line. The closest a quarterback has come to the 5k and 1k season was Justin Herbert last year when he finished with 5,014 passing yards and 321 rushing yards. To throw for 5k yards and rush for 1k yards is something that should instantly lock up an MVP award.
Allen has the skillset and receivers to throw for 5k yards no problem. The rushing part is also not too far out of reach considering Allen rushed for 763 yards last season. There is no better way to lock up an MVP than breaking history and having a stat line that’s never been seen before. The Bills want a Super Bowl badly and if Allen makes this prediction come true, they very well could be on their way to one.
Christian McCaffrey Plays All 17 Games This Season
This prediction should not be bold but with his recent injury history, it is now bold. Christian McCaffrey has played just ten games in the last two seasons. However, when he is healthy, McCaffrey is one of the best running backs in the NFL. He has accumulated 3,587 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns as well as 3,015 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
McCaffrey posted his best season in 2019 when he broke multiple records. He became the first player in NFL history with over 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the first ten games of the season. Two weeks later, he became the first player in Panthers history with 2,000 scrimmage yards in a season. The following week, he broke his own record for most catches by a running back in a single season and became the only running back to have two 100-catch seasons and recorded a franchise-high 15 receptions.
So with all of those crazy stats, it is tough to see him miss so much time the past two seasons. The big prediction here is that he will not miss a single game in 2022. The Panthers should pray for this if they haven’t already. If McCaffrey can stay healthy for all 17 games, the Panthers might win a few more games than last year.
The Detroit Lions Make The Playoffs With Winning Season
Here is the big finale but maybe not as insane as you think. The Lions have won just eight games in the last two seasons. However, Dan Campbell has this squad on the turnaround and is looking to get the Lions back to something like a contender. The Lions needed to add some help for Jared Goff and this offseason was a successful one in some way.
The Lions added DJ Chark and drafted Jameson Williams to give Goff more options along side Amon Ra St. Brown and TJ Hockenson. The Lions returned all five of their starting offensive lineman and boosted their defense by drafting Aidan Hutchinson and Josh Paschal. This team has pieces to make some noise or at least be under the radar and make a quiet impact.
The Lions can score now and they have defensive pieces that can slow down any offense. I am not saying the Lions are Super Bowl bound but man they could screw up the NFC North and make the playoffs. A winning season this year would be the first winning season since 2017. If you are feeling lucky, roll the dice on this Lions squad and it might pay off.
