A Preview Of Betting Lines For The Giants Week Two Matchup
Carolina Panthers Stats
The Panthers are 0-1 against the spread so far this season after their 26-24 loss against the Cleveland Browns though. Baker Mayfield only completed 59.8% of his passes for 235 yards, one touchdown, and one interception last week. Running back Christian McCaffrey only rushed for 33 yards on 10 carries (3.3 yards per carry) and one touchdown last week. Robbie Anderson caught eight passes for 102 yards receiving (20.4 yards per catch) and one touchdown last week.
New York Giants Stats
The New York Giants’ record against the spread so far this season is 1-0 after beating the Tennessee Titans 21-20 though. Quarterback Daniel Jones completed 81.0% of his passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception last week. Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 164 yards on 18 carries (9.1 yards per carry) and one touchdown last week along with the 2-point conversion. Sterling Shepard caught two passes for 71 yards receiving (35.5 yards per catch), and one touchdown last week.
The Game Itself
This is going to be a very close football game because you don’t know what you’re going to expect from either Baker Mayfield or Daniel Jones. They are two evenly matched football teams and this could be another game that is decided in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.
The New York Giants fanbase is looking ahead to a potential 4-0 start to the 2022 regular season, but they need to slow down the breaks on that one though. The Carolina Panthers can win this football game and New York could be plagued by the Manning Cast Curse since Saquon Barkley appeared on it on Monday night football.
Can the Giants contain Baker Mayfield? There is confidence in the Giants offense to move the ball, the hope they get off to a quick start. Saquon has been known to be a second half success story, but the Head Coach wants the team to get off quick so they can coast in the second half. Brian Daboll is known for his second half adjustments but the talent rich G-Men have the weapons to start fast.
The defense also like the offense needs time to settle in to smother the opposing team’s offense, but limiting the points is a must to allow the offense ability to make a come back and take the lead late in the game. The secondary is the question, on this team. Safeties are less talented but serviceable but the front seven is the key to this Giants defense.
The pick: Carolina Panthers 26 New York Giants 24
Betting Pick: Carolina (+2.5) (-112) odds over New York (-2.5) (-108). Money line +134 and over 42.5 total points (-114).
