College Football Playoff Eliminator Post Week Three, 2022 (Part Two)

Heading into week four of the 2022 college football season, how is your team’s college football playoff fate looking?

Heading into week four of the 2022 college football season, how is your team’s college football playoff fate looking?

We are already heading into week four of the 2022-23 NCAA football season. Several teams have been eliminated from college football playoff contention, as most of them have come from the group of five conferences as we head into the middle part of the year. Week three was a huge week as it saw a few more group of five conferences be completely wiped out of contention. The last remaining teams in Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference were knocked out as Western Kentucky and Toledo lost their first games of the season. There was also another handful of top 25 upsets this past weekend as well.

After a rough week three of the 2022 NCAA football season there are now 60 teams remaining in the hunt to bring home the national championship this season. Only two of those schools come from the group of five conferences. Tulane from the American Athletic Conference and Coastal Carolina from the Sun Belt remain undefeated through three weeks of the season. That means that the remaining 58 schools all play their conference games in a power five conference, and even they will start to fall as most of the conferences will open up conference play this upcoming weekend.

The Big 12 has had a strong first three weeks of the 2022-23 college football season. Heading into week number four of the season nine of the ten Big 12 schools remain with only West Virginia being the one eliminated school from the conference. Heading into week four of the college football season the Oklahoma Sooners lead the way for the Big 12 playoff hopes but Oklahoma State isn’t far behind. The Baylor Bears are still in the running as well despite losing a game earlier this season.

Featured matchups for week four of the season:

Duke (3-0) vs Kansas (3-0)

PAC-12

There has been a lot of attention paid to the Pacific 12 conference, heading into the season as one of the main storylines in college football was the rise of Southern Cal back to the ranks of the elite in the sport. When you add in Oregon, Utah, and Washington it makes for an interesting season. As of right now nine of the twelve schools in the conference remain in the hunt for the college football playoffs heading into week four.

Five of those schools are currently undefeated and leading the way for the conference’s playoff hopes is the previously mentioned 7th ranked USC Trojans. 18th ranked Washington is starting to make some noise as well after defeating a top fifteen Michigan State team last weekend.

Featured matchups for week four of the season:

#15 Oregon (2-1) vs Washington State (3-0)

#7 USC vs Oregon State (3-0)

SEC:

The SEC is the premier conference in college football and they have the most schools left in contention in the race for the 2022-23 college football playoffs. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who is more than a casual fan of the sport. Heading into week four of the season as thirteen of their fourteen schools are still in the running. Only South Carolina finds themselves truly eliminated at this point in the year. Six of the thirteen schools remaining are undefeated and all six of those schools have a legit shot at making the playoffs this season.

Sun Belt:

The only remaining team from the Sun Belt Conference is Coastal Carolina. They are a major longshot to reach the college football playoffs this season.
