College Football Playoff Eliminator Post Week Three, 2022 (Part One)

Heading into week four of the 2022 college football season, how is your team’s college football playoff fate looking?

Heading into week four of the 2022 college football season, how is your team’s college football playoff fate looking?

We are already heading into week four of the 2022-23 NCAA football season. Several teams have been eliminated from college football playoff contention, as most of them have come from the group of five conferences as we head into the middle part of the year. Week three was a huge week as it saw a few more group of five conferences be completely wiped out of contention. The last remaining teams in Conference USA and the Mid American Conference were knocked out as Western Kentucky and Toledo lost their first games of the season. There were also another handful of top 25 upsets this past weekend as well.

After a rough week three of the 2022 NCAA football season there are now 60 teams remaining in the hunt to bring home the national championship this season. Only two of those schools come from the group of five conferences. Tulane from the American Athletic Conference and Coastal Carolina from the Sun Belt remain undefeated through three weeks of the season. That means that the remaining 58 schools all play their conference games in a power five conference, and even they will start to fall as most of the conferences will open up conference play this upcoming weekend.

College Football Playoff Outlook

American Athletic Conference:

As previously mentioned, Tulane is the only team remaining from the American Athletic Conference. They come into week four of the 2022 college football season with an undefeated record of 3-0 through the first three weeks of the season. In week number four they will face off with (1-2) Southern Mississippi at home. Last weekend they pulled off a huge 17-10 upset over power five Big 12 school Kansas State to remain in the hunt for the college football playoffs. However, they are still a massive longshot to reach the final four thanks to the unbalanced model the NCAA has in place.

Atlantic Coast Conference:

The majority of the ACC remain in contention for the 2022-23 college football playoffs. Heading into week number four of the season eleven of the fourteen ACC schools remain in contention. Seven of those eleven of the schools are heading into the fourth week of the season undefeated. As top 25 schools Clemson, Wake Forest, and North Carolina State lead the way. Fellow top 25 schools Miami (who lost to Texas A&M), and Pittsburgh both have one loss this season and will have elimination games every week from here on out.
