The Philadelphia Eagles (3-0) defeated the Washington Commanders(1-2) on the road 24-8 to continue their hot offensive stretch. Carson Wentz was being tortured all game after the Eagles’ defense tallied nine sacks on their former quarterback.

Key Plays

Nothing was going for either offenses. The Eagles’ defense got to Wentz four times in just the first quarter but the offense could not make up for it. Then, Jalen Hurts hit Devonta Smith down the sideline for a 45 yard gain and quickly got on the ball and ran a play before Commanders Coach Ron Rivera could challenge the toe-tapping catch by Smith.

This only led to three points, but the defense forced a fumble on Wentz that led to a 28 yard screen pass touchdown by Dallas Goedert. Later in the second quarter, a 31 yard catch and run by Smith set up A.J. Brown for his first touchdown as an Eagle and extending the lead to 17-0.

The offense finished the half strong as Smith held in 61 yards on the last drive alone. This included a 44 yard catch over two Washington defenders, followed up by a 4th and one back corner jump ball as time expired at the half.

From here, the defense took care of business and the Eagles’ offense flamed out just a bit. No worries however, a win is a win. Money was left on the table and they will look to improve.
