Stadium Rant’s Week 14 Fantasy Football Starts & Sits

fantasy football

Daniel Portillo of Another Damn (Fantasy) Podcast is here to give you the players with the most (and least) favorable fantasy football matchups for week 14 to help you make your playoff push!

Quarterbacks

Starts

Kirk Cousins makes his way to Detroit to face off against one of the most generous defenses to opposing QBs. Trevor Lawrence had an average week in week 13, but this Vikings offense is a bit more explosive. Cousins and Jefferson are going to have their way in this one.

The Chargers’ defense, with their run of injuries and terrible coaching, has not lived up to expectations in 2022. Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins have their matchup with this defense flexed to prime time for week 14. Look for Tua and his duo of top 10 receivers to maximize their fantasy potential.

Sits

Daniel Jones and the Giants’ offense have had difficulties getting the passing game going for most of the season. That will not change this week. The Eagles have the best collection of defensive linemen in the league, and even with the Giants’ solid OL, I do not see this going their way. Add in poor performances from their pass catchers and you have a recipe for a sit.

The Buccaneers have had a weird season. Most of this is centered around the lack of offensive execution and Tom Brady. This week, the Bucs draw a motivated 49ers defense still reeling from the loss of their starting QB, Jimmy G. Brady has been able to escape pressure even with limited mobility, but I do not see that happening this week.

Running Backs

Starts

The Lions have a touchdown machine in the backfield this year and he should be your starter this week. Jamaal Williams has been automatic and the Vikings’ defense has certainly been generous to opposing offenses. Make sure he starts.

The Dallas Cowboys’ one-two punch of Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott is one of the better, if not the best in the league. However, I am looking at Pollard to take advantage of an extremely weak Houston Texans defense. Lock in number 20 this week.

Sits

Leonard Fournette has been losing opportunities to Rashaad White since the injury. With the Bucs scheduled to play the 49ers this weekend, I would leave Fournette on the bench.

Kansas City Chiefs running back, Isiah Pacheco, has earned his touches this year as KC’s number-one RB. This week, however, is one where you should consider benching him. The Chiefs draw a tough Denver defense this week, so I expect most of the damage to come through the air where the offense is comfortable.

Wide Receivers

Starts

Keenan Allen is the man this week. No Mike Williams, an easy matchup with a weak Miami secondary, not to mention playoff seeding is at peak importance. Look for Allen and Herbert to connect often this week in what will be a high-scoring affair.

In what is another lopsided matchup, I’m going with Michael Gallup. The Texans have clearly been the worst team in football and the Cowboys have shown that they do not care about putting up points. Plug him in as he builds on his big week 13 performance.

Sits

Tyler Boyd is back into sit territory. With the return of Chase, it appears Burrow is going to favor the receiver and his counterpart, Tee Higgins. With a matchup against the Browns, I expect a tough matchup with a solid Cleveland defense.

I hate to put him here, but Garrett Wilson should not start for you this week. The Jets face their division rival Buffalo, but the matchup is not what I’m concerned about. It’s the return of Zach Wilson under center that concerns me.

Tight Ends

Starts

The Chargers’ game against Miami is going to feed a lot of mouths this weekend. Gerald Everett included. Make sure you plug him into the lineup with Keenan Allen.

The Steelers’ offense has really been clicking lately with Kenny Pickett under center. A lot of that success is attributed to Pat Freiermuth. Pat has been Pickett’s number-one target and the volume should persist this week.

Sits

Evan Engram will need to sit this week. He’s been way too streaky and has a problematic Tennessee matchup ahead of him. The Titans have a way of beating up players and I’m steering clear of it this week.

Even though the Patriots have a juicy matchup against the Cardinals, I do not trust the offense to get things going. Therefore, Hunter Henry needs to ride the pine this week. Look into some other options this week.

Team Defenses

Starts

Pittsburgh Steelers is hosting a Baltimore that has not surrendered many fantasy points. But that was with Lamar Jackson under center. Huntley and this Ravens offense against TJ Watt and the Steelers are looking like a matchup you have to take advantage of.

Sits

Sit the Denver Broncos. Although they have been good, they have not played the Chiefs until now. With KC fresh off of their third loss against the Bengals in the year 2022, I can see the offense playing with fire. Do not find yourself on the wrong side of this one.
