Celtics
The Boston Celtics haves the NBA’s best record at 22-7, and they just had a massive win last night in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
The Celtics were just in the NBA Finals a season ago, where they lost in six games to the Golden State Warriors. So, they came into the 2022-2023 season looking to get back to the finals and win it all, but their head coach Ime Udoka was suspended for the season for inappropriate relations with a female member of the team staff.
The Celtics promoted assistant coach Joe Mazzulla to head coach, 34 years old and the youngest coach in the NBA, but the team hasn’t missed a beat with him in charge.
Star forward Jayson Tatum is having a phenomenal season and should be the favorite to win the new NBA Michael Jordan MVP Trophy.
Boston should be the favorite out of the Eastern Conference to make the NBA finals right now, and the only real threat to them is the Milwaukee Bucks
Bruins
The Boston Bruins sits with 47 points and a record 23-4-1 and is the best by any team in the NHL this season. Boston won an overtime shootout on Tuesday night against the New York Islanders with a score of 4-3.
Like the Celtics, the Bruins also had a coaching change this off-season. The Bruins fired their head coach Bruce Cassidy after six seasons and a Stanley Cup appearance in 2019.
The Bruins went out and hired Jim Montgomery as their new man; this team has gotten way better. The Bruins are the team to beat in the Eastern Conference and the entire NHL.
The Bruins have star players like David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, Taylor Hall, Patrice Bergeron, Charlie McAvoy, Jake DeBrusk, and many others.
City Of Champions
Since the 21st century started, Boston has been the city of champions. The New England Patriots have been to nine Super Bowls and won six in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, and 2019. The Boston Red Sox have been to four World Series, winning all four in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018. In addition, the Celtics went to the NBA Finals in 2008, 2010, and 2022, winning the 2008 Finals, and the Bruins went to the Stanley Cup in 2011, 2013, and 2019 and won in 2011.
The two teams who play in the TD Garden recently got to the championship series but have yet to have a title to show since 2008 and 2011. Both of those droughts could end this way season.
I would pick both the Celtics and Bruins to win their league championships in 2023, and it could be a summer to remember in Beantown and inside the confines of TD Garden.
It seems like every year, one of the major four sports teams in Boston competes for a championship, and they might have a lot of haters, but every sports city should try to be like them because they are the standard.
