This Outstanding NFL Legend Is Returning To His Alma Mater To Help Coach The Team

Drew Brees was a great NFL football player, and now it’s time to see what he does on the sidelines.

NFL

A report came out on Thursday Morning that former NFL quarterback Drew Brees would return to his alma mater Purdue University where he would help coach the team as an assistant in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl against LSU on January second.

Brees was the quarterback at Purdue from 1997-2000 and set all sorts of Big Ten records. He was a great college quarterback and one of the most-known faces of Purdue.

Purdue Coaching Changes

Purdue is transitioning from head coaches since their former head coach Jeff Brohm left the school last week and took the head coaching job at the University of Louisville.

Purdue hired former Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters as their new head coach, but he will only take over the team after the bowl game. Purdue named offensive coordinator Brian Brohm and the brother of former head coach Jeff Brohm as the interim head coach in the bowl game.

Will Brees Become A Football Coach

Brees retired from the NFL after the 2020 season, where he spent 20 seasons playing for the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints. He was a 13-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl Champion. He will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he is eligible.

Brees joined NBC as an analyst in 2021, where he had several different roles, but he left after the season, and many people thought he would come out of retirement and play football again, but that was not the case.

Brees will help coach Purdue in the bowl game as they help transition from head coaches. It is neat to see Brees, one of the best quarterbacks to play the game, help his former college.

The players will find it incredible that they are being coached by one of the players they watched growing up, and for Brees, this could be the first of many coaching jobs he has.
