WWE Night Of Champions 2023 Delivers On Its Intriguing Card

The WWE match card promises much with some intriguing matches.

WWE

On Saturday, May 27th, the WWE goes to Saudi Arabia for the Night Of Champions Premium Live Event. The show will have three Main Events, including the final of the WWE World Heavy Weight Championship featuring Seth Rollins and AJ Styles. Typically the shows in Saudi Arabia are more the typical house show affair on a grander scale, but recently they have started to have meaning to the cannon of WWE.

Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes enters Night Of Champions with a broken arm against The Beast Incarnate. This feud has had one of the most significant builds leading up to the show, and the focus has been on Brock being the ultimate combat sports athlete. If he does not win, then it makes Brock look weak, even with the equity built up over the years. So this will be short, setting up a rubber match elsewhere.

LA Knight Vs. Rick Boogs

This may be a surprise match added at the very last minute. Reports are coming out at the time of writing that La Knight has gotten over in a big way during the media tour in Saudi Arabia, and the WWE wants to capitalize on this. So Boogs seems like a natural choice as they have a match on tonight’s Smackdown pretaped from last week.

LA Knight Wins

Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus is looking for gratitude, using the age-old and tiresome “I created the Woman’s Revolution” argument as her reason. Becky is an established star in her own right and does not need the rub that a victory will give her. In the few matches Trish has had, she had looked rusty and not ready for a full singles match. Becky will pull a good match out of the Hall Of Famer but do not expect many fireworks here.

WWE World Heavy Weight Championship Final – AJ Styles Vs. Seth Rollins

The WWE World Heavy Weight Championship makes it come back at Night Of Champions as both Raw and Smackdown need a main event championship. With Seth Rollins seemingly heading to Hollywood, he may be unable to commit to a championship run. This has the potential to be the match of the night ending with Styles having one last Championship run.

AJ Styles Wins

WWE Smackdowns Womens Championship – Rhea Ripley Vs. Natalia

A match put together on Monday night with no build or coverage at the Night Of Champions Media Event tells you all you need to know about this match. Natalya is a fan favorite in Saudi Arabia and always gives 100%, but Ripley will make short work of her.

WWE Intercontinental Championship – Gunther Vs. Mustapha Ali

Is there any doubt that Gunther is in the discussion as one the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time? He has produced stellar match after stellar match, and this will be no different. Ali will have the Saudi Arabian audience on his side, and they will hang on every near fall, but ultimately he will fall short.

WWE Raw Womens Championship – Bianca Belair Vs Asuka

A Wrestlemania rematch that deserves better material than either superstar has been given. Instead, they delivered a match in Hollywood that, while good, was not either ladies’ best. This should make up for that here, and with Bianca desperate for a character shake-up, a loss will accelerate her heal turn. Likewise, Asuka’s new evil Kana character needs the win, or it undercuts the change.

Asuka Wins

WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship – Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn Vs. Roman Reigns And Solo Sikoa

The focus of this match is not on the game itself but on the story surrounding the Bloodline. Roman Reigns is getting greedy and wants the tag titles while embarrassing the Usos in the process. This arc needs to end so that Solo and the Usos can move on to other things. A Uso interruption costing the Tribal Chief victory will set things up for the final act of the best story WWE has told for years.
