Madison Booker and Vic Schaefer of Texas (15-1) have been recognized for their outstanding Southeastern Conference performances this season. Madison Booker was named the SEC Player of the Year after leading her team to a share of the conference regular-season championship with South Carolina.

Vic Schaefer, Texas’s head coach, was named the SEC Coach of the Year. This achievement is a nod to his leadership and coaching prowess, as it his fourth time winning the award. He won the award three times as the coach of Mississippi State.

Both Booker and Schaefer have had an incredible season, with Texas completing its first Southeastern Conference regular season. Their most notable achievement this season was snapping South Carolina’s 57-game conference regular season winning streak. Along the way, the Longhorns split with the Gamecocks in the regular season series, giving South Carolina its first regular season loss in the conference over four years.

Georgia Amoore and Clara Strack, of the Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team, have received prestigious honors from the conference. Amoore was named SEC Newcomer of the Year, while Strack was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year award. Both transferred over from Virginia Tech to come with coach Kenny Brooks last season to revitalize the Wildcats.

Freshman Mikayla Blakes from Vanderbilt took home the SEC Freshman of the Year. She took the league by storm twice setting the single-game freshman scoring record, by putting up 53 and 55 points in a game. Her teammate Khamil Pierre was perhaps the best player in the league not recognized.
