Five-star forward Alijah Arenas from Chatsworth, California High School, the son of NBA player Gilbert Arenas, has committed to USC. He chose the Trojans over Arizona, Louisville, Kentucky, and Kansas.

Arenas is the No. 12 recruit on ESPN’s Top 100 2025 recruiting class, is a McDonald’s All-American, and has given buckets to NBA players in offseason runs. This was a huge commitment for Trojans head coach Eric Musselman.

Alijah Arenas’ Skillset And USC’s Roster

USC

Arenas has recently been reclassified to the 2025 class and continues to establish himself as one of the top five scoring talents in it. He possesses exceptional ball-handling skills and demonstrates considerable agility, which enables him to showcase his acrobatic skills at the rim, evidenced by a 60% finishing rate. Furthermore, he is recognized as one of the premier foul-drawing players nationally, averaging 8.5 free throw attempts per game.

Arenas possesses exceptional capabilities as a scorer, excelling particularly in creating offense off the dribble. His 40% accuracy from three-point range and height of 6 feet 5 inches make him a notable offensive threat. The enhancement of his playmaking skills, along with an increase in overall physical strength, will be crucial in enabling Arenas to realize his considerable potential.

In the upcoming season, he will collaborate with fellow four-star prospects, small forward Elzie Harrington from St. John Bosco High School and combo guard Jerry Easter from Link Academy High School. USC has a solid roster, and he is expected to be key to the Trojans’ offense this season. The Trojans hold the seventh-best recruiting class for 2025.

Eric Musselman served as the head coach for Gilbert Arenas on the Golden State Warriors from 2002-2004. Alijah Arenas hails from California, enabling him to play basketball close to his hometown. This marks Musselman’s second local commitment in the class of 2025.

End Of My USC Rant

This commitment not only strengthens the roster at USC but also highlights the attractiveness of playing under the respected leadership of Coach Musselman. Acquiring one of the most talented prospects in this recruiting class represents a major step forward for the program.

Given Arenas’s skills and potential, he has the capacity to be a significant contributor to the future development of USC’s basketball program. It will be intriguing to observe how this commitment unfolds, and the effect Arenas will have on the team’s performance and dynamics.
