The Chargers, Panthers, and Steelers are among the likely suitors for the New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton. He is expected to have a nice market entering free agency.
As Slayton approaches free agency, he is eager to find a new team that prioritizes winning. The New York Giants wide receiver strongly desired to play with a competitive team after experiencing six seasons with minimal playoff success.
1. Los Angeles Chargers
Darius Slayton makes a lot of sense as a Chargers free agency target. He has familiarity with tight end coach Andy Bischoff who was with the Giants for the previous two years. He does have a history of drops, but he would certainly be an upgrade in the vertical department, and he would replace Joshua Palmer’s role.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
He would be a nice pickup for the Steelers. Darius will solve their problems at WR 2 and will upgrade their receiving core by complimenting wide receiver George Pickens. This move will not stop Pittsburgh from thinking about drafting a wide receiver early.
3. North Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are one of a few teams that could be interested in adding Darius Slayton. Carolina could use Slayton to boost the passing game around quarterback Bryce Young. He is not a #1 receiver, but he would make them a respectable unit.
End Of My Darius Slayton And NFL Rant
A change of scenery should benefit Slayton, as he has not been able to eclipse 800 yards in a season due to health and poor QB play. He could be a good mid-budget cost target on the free agency market.
While not the flashiest of players, Slayton has the tools to find more success elsewhere than he has in the Big Apple. He has remained consistent throughout his five-year NFL career.
