Manchester City are already looking for players capable of improving things, and they have targeted Eintracht Frankfurt’s star Omar Marmoush.
Everyone knows that Manchester City has been struggling during this Premier League campaign. The team is in dire need of a change, and they need it now. Pep Guardiola needs to improve his team’s performance, but with so many players out because of injuries, things aren’t easy. The City will be looking to bring some reinforcements, and they already have a target. It has been reported that the club is after Eintracht Frankfurt’s star Omar Marmoush.
Several names have been mentioned in reports about players Manchester City are after. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Atalanta’s Ederson are among those names. Marmoush could be the missing piece that City is looking for this season, especially with how well he has been performing so far.
A signing like Marmoush has recently become the dream of several clubs, not just Manchester City. The new Egyptian star has been linked to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur in recent months. However, it’s a matter of which team can convince him to change sides.
The City’s interest in Marmoush doesn’t come as a surprise when one looks at a player of his caliber. So far, Marmoush has 13 goals and seven assists in the Bundesliga. While in the Europa League, Marmoush managed to find the net four times and create two assists. The fact that Marmoush forced people to start comparing him to someone like Harry Kane due to his talent justifies why Manchester City is interested.
Marmoush won’t be the only beneficial deal that Manchester City could do. With the several injuries the team is suffering from, new signings aren’t such a bad thing. Guardiola himself acknowledges that. Talking about making deals this January, Guardiola said: “In some positions we need help. When we’re all together we’re the team we were but with important players out for weeks and months it’s so difficult.”
As Manchester City’s injured players start to get back, the team’s performance might improve. Still, the team could use more youth players than those at hand. Marmoush being only 25 years old could make him more appealing.
Despite all the reports and speculation, Manchester City are yet to make an official offer for Marmoush. Eintracht Frankfurt’s spokesperson, Bartosz Niedzwiedzki, stated: “Frankfurt have yet to receive any offers for Marmoush, so I can’t confirm these rumors.”
Frankfurt will need to keep Marmoush if they want to achieve something this season. He has already proved himself as an integral part of the team. “We have big targets to achieve together, and we are happy with Marmoush’s stay in Frankfurt. That’s all I can say,” said Niedzwiedzki.
If Manchester City manages to sign Marmoush, it is expected that the Egyptian international will be compared to his national team teammate Mohamed Salah. Salah made, and keeps making, history at Liverpool. Therefore, it won’t be surprising if comparisons between the two players start to be made.
It’s too early to compare Marmoush to Salah who has been performing consistently for years. What is certain is that Marmoush is a quality finisher and he also has the speed to outrun defenders. He would be an addition to any team.
