Texas will begin its quest for a championship on Friday night in the Cotton Bowl Classic against Ohio State. They will also be the only SEC team remaining in the postseason, raising the question: can they bring home a title for the SEC?

Playmakers Galore For Both Texas And Ohio State

This game is going to be all about playmakers and more playmakers. Ohio State brings in a loaded offensive unit, along with the defense, and so does Texas, especially at the wide receiver position. This matchup is going to be the one to watch because on one side for Texas, you’ve got Quinn Ewers at quarterback, and he has a load of weapons in Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Silas Bolden, along with deep threat Deandre Moore Jr.

Ohio State will bring in Will Howard, a transfer from Kansas State who has performed at the highest levels in the postseason, along with the offensive threats he will have in Jeremiah Smith, Emeka Egbuka, and Carnell Tate. And that’s not to forget about the running back room as well, featuring Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson.

This is one of the matchups to watch in the Cotton Bowl that’ll have my attention right out of the gate.

Quinn Ewers Time?

Texas Quinn Ewers

Texas QB Ewers remembers brief time with Ohio State football fondly

His brief time at Ohio State proved to be beneficial for him, and now he’s about to play in one of the biggest games of his life when he takes the field on Friday night. He didn’t have a significant impact on Ohio State, but in the article, he mentions that he has no regrets about his time there, expressing gratitude for the lessons he learned. It’s great to see that positivity, especially since in some cases, there’s bad blood between former players and their teams when a game of this magnitude is on the line.

Quinn Ewers has had a good season this year, even though he has faced injuries at times. This season, he has passed for 3,189 yards and 29 touchdowns. The biggest issue? Eleven interceptions, and that’s a recipe for disaster when going up against one of the best secondaries and defenses in the country in the Buckeyes.

Last weekend, in the victory over Arizona State, Ewers demonstrated remarkable poise, completing 20 of 30 passes for 322 yards and throwing three touchdown passes. He played a crucial role in bringing Texas back in regulation and ultimately in overtime, securing a spot in the Semi-finals. Throughout the game, Texas struggled with their offensive line, leading to Ewers being sacked three times and facing constant pressure from Arizona State’s defense.

The pivotal moment came on a 4th and 13 play in overtime, where Isaiah Bond emerged as the hero during the first overtime. Texas persevered and clinched the win after two overtimes. Ewers’ performance will be remembered because his ability to avoid the sack, stay composed in the pocket, and deliver a crucial throw was instrumental in saving the Longhorns’ season.

This weekend, he will get the opportunity to lead his team to the national championship, and nobody can ask for much more from a guy who’s battled injuries, toughened through certain games, and persevered to secure wins for Texas. It’s going to be a fun one coming up!

End Of Cotton Bowl Rant Best Of The Rest

As we approach the final four teams, it’s clear that this matchup features the two strongest teams in terms of talent. This isn’t a slight against Notre Dame and Penn State, as they both fought hard to reach this point and earn their shot at the title. Considering overall talent, Ohio State and Texas appear to have the best opportunities to win the trophy.

Across the entire roster, there are numerous playmakers, from the wide receiver room to the secondary, running backs, quarterback play, and even the coaching from Sark and Day. This matchup has all the makings of one of the best games in the final four. The presence of NFL talent is clear on both rosters, and the anticipation for this game is building. Come Friday evening, all eyes will be on this matchup, capturing the attention of the entire college football world.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
