In amazing news for Manchester City fans, the club managed to convince Erling Haaland to sign a ten-year contract.
Erling Haaland has put an end to any talks about his future, as he signed a new deal with Manchester City. The new contract will last for ten years, which means that Haaland will be staying at the club until 2034.
The fact that City managed to convince Haaland to stay for ten more years shows that they made the right choice. The striker has been phenomenal for them since he joined the club, coming from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
In his two-and-a-half seasons at City, Haaland managed to score 111 goals and create 15 assists in just 126 matches. His previous contract was set to expire in 2027, but now the fans can be assured that Haaland’s tale with the club won’t be over anytime soon.
Haaland staying at Man City and signing this new deal won’t just benefit him on the financial level, but also on the professional level. During his time with the club, Haaland won two Premier League titles, one Champions League, and one FA Cup. The Norwegian will surely be looking to achieve more titles with the team.
On the financial side, the details of the new contract haven’t been revealed. The Athletic’s David Ornstein stated that the deal is “among the most lucrative sporting contracts ever.”
Despite the recent poor performances, Manchester City’s fans still believe that Pep Guardiola can turn things around. With new signings rumored to be close to happening, including Omar Marmoush’s deal, the club still has a chance to return to its glory days.
It appears that Haaland himself is just as ecstatic as the fans about staying in Manchester City. The Norwegian had some words to say in a club statement.
“Manchester City is a special Club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it’s the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody. I want to keep developing, keep working to get better and look to do my best to try and help us achieve more success going forward.”
The future is bright for Haaland. Despite his performance dipping slightly this season than what he is known for, he is still an extraordinary talent who has a lot to offer. Haaland will be essential in Manchester City’s return to their known performances. He is still young and will continue to develop at City.
Manchester City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain also had words of his own to share.

He has made an incredible impact already in his time here and his amazing numbers and records speak for themselves. But in addition to his outstanding natural talent and ability, Erling’s dedication, professionalism, humility and desire to keep getting better sum up what we all strive to achieve at Manchester City.”
Begiristain, just like many, agree that Haaland’s talent is unique.
“He is one of the finest strikers in world football, but Erling is still very young and will only continue to improve working under Pep and his coaching team. If he works hard, which I know he will, he will create an incredible legacy at this football club.”
The extension of Haaland’s contract is more than beneficial for both sides. Now, Manchester City have closed the doors against any speculation regarding Haaland’s future. Some rumors have been circulating that Real Madrid were interested in landing the striker, but now things have changed. If Haaland stayed till the end of the contract at Manchester City, he would be 34 years old and one of the club’s legends.
