The NFL has unveiled its finalists for the 2025 individual awards, showcasing a competitive race for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. In the spotlight are notable quarterbacks Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, and standout running back Saquon Barkley of the Eagles.

This is the most prestigious award that any player can receive. With standout seasons, these players have left their mark.

1. Josh Allen: Buffalo Bills

Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been highlighted as the odds-on favorite with his performance leading the Bills to a 13-4 record and securing the AFC East title. His stats include 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and only six interceptions, 531 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns. His ability to lead the Bills to significant victories, including against strong teams like the Chiefs and Lions, has been a major point in his favor.

2. Lamar Jackson: Buffalo Ravens

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has had an outstanding season, throwing for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, while also rushing for 915 yards and four touchdowns. His performance has been pivotal in leading the Ravens to a strong season, despite not having the same level of support from his defense and special teams as Allen. Jackson’s stats and impact on the Ravens’ success make a compelling case for his third MVP award.

3. Saquon Barkley: Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has had a phenomenal year, rushing for 2,005 yards, becoming only the ninth player in NFL history to surpass the 2,000-yard mark in a season. His performance has been crucial for the Eagles, especially considering he played only 16 games. However, the MVP award has a strong bias towards quarterbacks, making his chances of winning less likely despite his remarkable season.

4. Jared Goff: Detroit Lions

Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw for 4,629 yards and 37 touchdowns, guiding the Detroit Lions to the No. 1 seed in the NFC. His play-action passing was particularly effective, showing a significant improvement over the previous season.

 5. Joe Burrow: Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow led the league in passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43), although the Bengals missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record. His performance was notable, but team success is often a significant factor in MVP voting.

End Of My MVP Rant

The MVP award will be announced at the NFL Honors ceremony on Feb. 6, 2025. Voting is conducted by a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league, and their decisions are based on performances up to the end of the regular season.

The current sentiment on the MVP reflects a mix of opinions, with some users favoring Josh Allen, while others recognize the standout performances by Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and even Saquon Barkley’s exceptional season, highlighting the competitive nature of this year’s MVP race. This will be a close MVP race because all these players had spectacular seasons and deserving of the award.
