Liverpool has just announced signing a multi-year kit deal with Adidas. They won’t be renewing their contract with Nike.
In some exciting news for Liverpool fans, the club has announced a new multi-year kit deal with Adidas instead of Nike. This comes at a time when the club’s five-year contract with Nike is coming to an end.
This exciting deal will witness Liverpool’s return to collaborating with Adidas. The team had previously been with Adidas from 1985 to 1996 and from 2006 to 2012.
According to The Times, the deal with Adidas will earn the club more than £60 million per season and it will start on August 1.
This is quite an improvement when compared to the club’s deal with Nike. According to The Athletic, the English giants were earning £30 million per season with Nike.
The publication also reported that sources familiar with the Adidas deal commented on the huge difference between the two contracts.
According to these sources, the new contract is incentivized which means that the overall earnings would depend on the club’s performance and global sales.
The club’s CEO Billy Hogan talked about this new partnership through the club’s official website.
“Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome Adidas back into the LFC family. We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits of all time. Adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on-pitch performance. We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future.”
Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden had words of his own to share:
“We are extremely excited that Adidas and Liverpool Football Club are teaming up once again. The club is one of the biggest and most iconic names in world football with a huge fan base. The jerseys worn during previous partnerships are some of the greatest ever created. We are honoured to once again provide the players with cutting-edge technology to perform at the highest level and are looking forward to creating more classics for the fans.”
This new Adidas deal would place Liverpool in a higher rank when it comes to kit deals in the Premier League.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool will be earning an amount close to those earned by Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City. These three clubs already have deals with Adidas, Nike, and Puma.
The current top-earner when it comes to kit deals is Manchester United. They are reported to earn a jaw-dropping £90 million per year.
This new deal with Adidas is more than great for Liverpool. The team has been giving one extraordinary performance after another, and their status in the Premier League this season is unmatched.
With Liverpool’s current performance, they deserve to have a better deal that reflects their importance and development.
