Borussia Dortmund are rumored to be considering hiring Erik ten Hag to replace the current coach, Nuri Sahin.
Reports from Germany started circulating that Borussia Dortmund are considering replacing Nuri Sahin with Erik ten Hag shortly. The previous Manchester United boss is still without a job.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Borussia Dortmund has told Sahin that he needs to start winning games. The report states that the 36-year-old must win against FC Bologna in the Champions League to keep his job.
The recent bad results that the team suffered from have put Sahin’s job under a microscope. The team recently lost 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt. This result marked the club’s seventh defeat in 18 Bundesliga matches this season.
The team has lost all their Bundesliga games since the start of 2025. This puts a lot of pressure on the manager as everyone speculates on his dismissal.
According to the report by the German outlet, Borussia Dortmund are already thinking of possible replacements for Shain. One name at the top of the list is Erik ten Hag. Since leaving Manchester United, tan Hag has been out of work. However, he might be a better solution with Shain’s recent results.
Perhaps one of the reasons that put him in the limelight is his previous experience in Germany. Ten Hag previously coached Bayern Munich II during the reign of Pep Guardiola on the senior team.
Along with ten Hag, some other names have come into the picture when considering them as replacements for Shain. Sandro Wagner and Roger Schmidt are some of the names circulating. The report states, however, that both aren’t available, with Schmidt doubtful of the current management on the German side. Urs Fischer’s name has also been suggested.
Another option is Sebastian Hoeneß, who is a strong candidate. He has been performing well at Stuttgart, which is the main reason for his consideration. While his contract lasts until 2027, there is an exit option that Borussia Dortmund might consider if things got worse.
Borussia Dortmund is now hoping to improve its results in upcoming matches. Shain will be hoping the same since his future at the club is now on the line. The next match might be crucial for his career.
