The New York Rangers are a strong franchise for the present and future. They have many solid prospects in their pool. However, the organization got some more bad news about one of their prospects, Brennan Othmann.
Brennan Othmann’s Injury
As previously reported, Othmann Suffered an “upper body” injury in a late October game against the Bridgeport Islanders. The so-called “upper-body injury” (Again, NHL, please change this terrible injury classification system) is a wrist injury, and it was expected he would be out for 4-6 weeks.
Well, Othmann’s injury is way worse than anticipated, and it is reported that he will be out until December. If his recovery doesn’t go as planned, it may extend until 2025. That is terrible news as Othmann is one of their top players who almost made the NHL main roster and is one of their better players in the minors.
The good news with this revelation is that the Rangers are very cautious about Othmann’s health. Many times prospects and NHL players get rushed from their injuries, and it results in further long-term damage—while injuries suck, it’s the recovery that matters, and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
As of now, the Hartford Wolfpack are still a good team in the AHL with a current record of 8-5-1 and are second in the Atlantic Division. With how great that team is and with Othmann being healthy, the Hartford Wolfpack should be a playoff team, further eliciting excitement from Rangers fans regarding how well the prospects are developing.
