As the Milwaukee Brewers get set to welcome their pitchers and catchers to Arizona, the team’s focus is on just how to repeat as division champions. They hope to evaluate their young talent coming up through their minor league ranks and place those prospects at the right level to further their signs of progress.

According to the list that MLB Pipeline put out on Friday, January 24, the Brewers boast four players in the “Top 100 MLB Prospects” for 2025. They are: catcher Jeferson Quero (#47), infielder Jesus Made (#56), shortstop Cooper Pratt (#57), and pitcher Jacob Misiorowski (#100).

This week, a collection of writers from MLB.com selected each team’s best promising player outside the top 100. The lesser-known Milwaukee candidate selected is no stranger to making great strides in a short amount of time.

Brewers’ Boeve Turning Heads At The Hot Corner

Although he was left outside the overall top 100 prospect list, Brewers’ minor leaguer Mike Boeve earned a spot on the top 10 prospects at third base for 2025.

The Brewers drafted the Hastings, NE, native with the 54th overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft following his fourth season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In his career as a Maverick, Boeve hit .359 over 159 total games, and his OPB was an astounding .983.

Following a brief nine-game stint with the Brewers’ rookie-league squad, Boeve finished 2023 as a member of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Milwaukee single-A team. Over his final 19 games, Boeve batted .250 with one home run. However, his hot start in 2024 earned him a well-deserved promotion.

Boeve hit a torrid .553 with an incredible OPS of 1.274 over the Timber Rattlers’ first 13 games. This prompted the Milwaukee brass to move him up to double-A Biloxi, where he continued his offensive prowess. Boeve competed in 66 games for the Shuckers and hit for a .306 average to go along with six home runs and 27 RBI.

Brewers Need Mike Boeve To Stay Healthy

Just as Boeve’s 2024 season was confirming the trust the Brewers instilled in him, the injury bug bit the young infielder multiple times throughout the campaign.

His breakout 2024 season was slowed a bit when the Shuckers placed him on the injured list on July 9th. He would miss close to a month before returning to the field for Biloxi again on August 1st.

Unfortunately, it would be less than three weeks before Boeve would return to the injured list on August 19th. Minor league teams often choose not to release much in terms of specific injury news. Therefore, it was not known whether this is a matter of aggravating the previous injury or if this is a new one.

What Experts Are Saying About Brewers’ Boeve

MLB writers Jonathon Mayo, Jim Callis, and Sam Dykstra put together the list tracking each team’s best prospect not currently residing in the MLB’s overall top 100.

According to the trio’s article: “Boeve’s short whippy swing helps him make a ton of contact, and that hit tool will fuel his rise toward Milwaukee. There’s hope he could add some more power in year two if he can stay healthier, and that would help his Top 100 chances.”

Dykstra put together the top 10 third baseman prospects, and he believes of the ten on that list, Boeve has the most potential to rise through the Brewers’ ranks.

On January 20th, Dykstra wrote: “Boeve ranked No. 15 in Milwaukee’s top 30 last year as questions lingered over his power. Those remain, but the Brewers corner infielder carried his incredible bat-to-ball skills over to Double-A, where he batted .306 with an .821 OPS in 66 games in the pitcher-friendly Southern League. That solidified the belief that he could be a future plus hitter in the Majors.”

End Of Brewers Rant: Boeve’s Potential To Shine Is Evident

When healthy, Mike Boeve’s ceiling to rise through the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system appears limitless given his rapid rise to double-A in less than two seasons. If he can remain in the lineup and continue his initial success, fans in Milwaukee may get to know this budding star sooner rather than later.
