The Chicago Bears losing streak makes them 4-10.
Chicago Bears players and fans are searching for hope.
After starting the 2024 season 4-2, the Bears have yet to pull away with a win. The losing streak goes all the way back to their bye in week seven. Walking away from a 30-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in week 15, the Bears have lost eight consecutive games and are now 4-10.
Caleb Williams is likely to have a future with the Chicago Bears, but as a rookie, his limits are being put to the test—and not due to a lack of skills.
From Matt Eberflus’s mid-season firing to heartbreaking last-second losses, Williams and the Bears will soon need to see light at the end of the tunnel in order to keep persevering.
The wave of bad luck for the Bears began in week 8, with the unfortunate loss to the Washington Commanders. This was followed by losses to the Cardinals, Patriots, and division rivals the Packers. In week 12, during another NFC face-off, they fell short to the Vikings and then lost to the Lions. All of these losses, particularly the last-second call during the Packers game at Soldier Field, seemed to play a significant role in Eberflus’s firing, leaving the team battling with misfortune.
The first game after the Bears head coach was fired was a loss to the 49ers. They then lost to the Vikings again, leaving many to question whether firing the Eberflus mid-season was the right move, especially with a rookie quarterback.
Given the number of hits that Williams took in the game against the Vikings, it is clear the coaching struggles are not the team’s only issue. The offensive line is a huge source of weakness for the team as a whole.
Being frequently left unprotected, leading to sacks and scrambles, Williams’ pain and frustration are beginning to show. Williams has shown a connection with his receive, running backs, and tight ends. In order for these connections to result in victories, the Bears need better protection, play-calling, and coaching.
Williams has already created a large fan base, mainly due to his records, statistics, and dedication. Kennen Allen, Dj Moore, Rome Odunze, and D’Andre Swift, are elite players. Recent games prove, though, that winning takes more than individual talent.
The only thing the Bears rank top-5 in is turnovers, proving their recent struggles have taken a toll on the team. Although this doubt and lack of confidence for players and fans is promnite, up is the only way from here. Even though it has been one loss after another, we have yet to see players give up on each other.
“It’s been frustrating and encouraging,” Williams said, to ESPN. “The encouraging part is how much we fight as a team.”
