The Green Bay Packers are gearing up for a big offseason. After falling short in the NFC Wildcard Round, Green Bay will look to upgrade its biggest holes in the roster. One position surely to be looked at is defensive back. With star cornerback Jaire Alexander likely to find a new home in 2025, it should give the opportunity for general manager Brian Gutekunst to find a replacement. Could he bring back a fan favorite?

Packers Should Bring Back Rasul Douglas

Rasul Douglas

Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas won Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles as a special teams player. Since then, he has bounced around a few teams before finally finding his place as a Packer. Four years after being drafted, Douglas had a breakout season in 2021. After sealing a game-winning interception against the Arizona Cardinals, he became a fan favorite. He continued his success with two pick-sixes, along with a multi-pick game during the same season. He was rewarded with a three-year extension.

Douglas Would Step In And Help Immediately

During the 2023 season, Douglas was traded to the Buffalo Bills for a third-round pick. A key contributor for the Bills, Douglas had multiple two-interception performances during his two years in Buffalo while being active in almost every game. Ranked as the #15 best free agent of 2025 by PFF, Douglas would immediately step in and give the Packers a reliable starting cornerback.

After his last contract extension, which paid him around 7 million per season, the Packers should be expecting about the same for this time around. With over 42 million in cap space, Green Bay has plenty of room to add in Douglas, along with a couple of other big free agents as well.

End Of My Packers Rant

Douglas would bring familiarity, already has the approval of the fans. He would also benefit in Jeff Hafley’s defensive system that had the third-most team interceptions in the league.
