The Dallas Cowboys hired offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach. Brian has previously bounced around other NFL teams as an offensive coordinator/quarterback coach as he was with Georgia as an OC.

Schottenheimer had been with the Cowboys since the 2022 season and had been the offensive coordinator under Mike McCarthy since the 2023 season. Brian is the son of the late former NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer.

Brian’s Tenure As An Offensive Coordinator

The Seahawks finished in the top 10 in scoring offense each of his three seasons at the helm. Former Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson enjoyed three of his finest seasons, averaging 35 touchdown passes, 7.8 yards per attempt, and posting a 107.2 passer rating in 48 games. He made three consecutive Pro Bowls and earned his first All-Pro selection after tossing 40 touchdowns in 2020.

During the year that Brett Favre played for the Jets, the team ranked ninth in points scored, ninth in rushing yards, and fifth in rushing attempts. He served as an assistant coach under Rex Ryan when the Jets made back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship Games.

He served as the offensive coordinator for the Rams from 2012 to 2014. During his tenure, the team ranked 25th in scoring in 2012 and 21st in both 2013 and 2014. The Rams finished outside the top 20 in points scored for all three years he was with the team, during which quarterbacks Sam Bradford, Kellen Clemens, and Austin Davis played.

On Jan 7. 2015, he was named the offensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs. In his one year with the team, they ranked 79th in points scored.

End Of My Dallas Cowboys Rant

The Dallas Cowboys’ decision to hire Brian Schottenheimer as head coach is noteworthy. With extensive NFL experience, particularly as an offensive coordinator, he is skilled at developing quarterbacks and crafting game plans.

It will be interesting to see how his offensive knowledge affects the Cowboys, who have a talented roster with players like quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. If Schottenheimer can harness their potential, Dallas could become a significant contender in the NFC.
