It has been confirmed that there will be a 6th season of Dark Side of the Ring. However, the topics were not 100% confirmed as there were multiple different topics rumored. Well, we got some news and it’s the confirmation of 10 episodes that will be covered in this season. I am going to discuss each episode one by one.
Mick Foley’s Hell In A Cell Match
I will be honest out of the bunch, this is the episode I am looking forward to the least. Mainly because it has been covered so many times, however, it definitely has a dark backstory. Especially with the insane amount of injuries Foley suffered through in the Hell in A Cell match he had With The Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998. In the aftermath, Foley suffered a concussion, dislocated jaw, dislocated shoulder, bruised ribs, internal bleeding, puncture wounds, and several teeth knocked out. Heck, one of his teeth went into his nose. Yet he finished the match, which is just insane.
I do wonder if the Undertaker is going to be involved in this documentary. I am going to guess now as he’s involved behind the scenes with WWE. Also, let’s be honest this show doesn’t paint WWE in a good light so it’s probably best he doesn’t get involved. However, the show did get Steve Austin in the Brian Pillman episode. A fascinating fact about The Undertaker is he also was wrestling injured in that match. Undertaker has a fractured ankle yet he continues to wrestle the match as planned.
I do wonder how Dark Side of the Ring will cover this. They did a great job with it and I always learn something watching this.
Vader
Ahh the man they call Vader is getting an episode. There have been some crazy stories regarding Vader’s toughness. I mean the dude wrestled with his eye popped out against Stan Hanson and finished the match. I don’t know how he did it, but it’s Vader.
There are so many other crazy stories they can mention including the fight he had with Paul Orndorff in WCW. That fight got him fired from the company. Heck, speaking of fired they got to mention his beef with Shawn Michaels and his refusing to drop the title to Vader.
A story I hope they cover and this happened in the last years of his life, was his beef with Will Ospreay. That’s right Vader did have a match with Ospreay in the independent circuit. Both had an ugly feud on social media and both had a match in Rev-Pro and Vader refused to put him over. Vader even claimed that he got ripped off from the company as well.
I think another sad part about Vader was he campaigned to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He told WWE and everyone in public that he didn’t have long to live due to his heart problems. He wanted to be inducted while he was alive, but WWE didn’t do it. Vader passed away on June 18, 2018, at the age of 63 and he was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Tony Atlas
This one was spoiled thanks to Mark Henry who said on his No Contest Podcast that he was going to be involved. Tony Atlas has had a dark life and by hearing stories about him, he qualifies. Atlas being homeless will be mentioned and the Saba Simba gimmick will be discussed. They got to talk about the Pat Patterson allegation he made during that Vince McMahon documentary. I mean there are plenty of disgusting scandals involving him, just go look up the Ringboy Scandal, it’s disturbing.
Ludwig Borgia
Oh boy, where to even begin with Ludvig Borgia? Let’s just say this man was a racist, domestic abuser, homophobic, drug addict, and a very despicable human being. This man had a Neo-Nazi tattoo on his ankle and was proud of it. His political career in Finland, too is very gross and shady. I recently did an article on pro wrestlers who became politicians, and I covered some of the disturbing stuff he said and did as a politician. Borgia passed away on January 18, 2010, due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His episode is going to be full of insanity.
Billy Jack Haynes
Speaking of insanity let’s talk Billy Jack Haynes. He is a qualified topic for his involvement in his wife’s murder in 2024. On February 8th, 2024 Haynes murdered his 85-year-old wife. It was a mercy killing as his wife was dealing with Dementia and other diseases. When cops went to arrest him, there was a 2-hour standoff with the cops until he was placed in handcuffs. To be honest, looking up Haynes, he’s not all there.
He’s got a few screws and bolts loose with the way he thinks. His conspiracy theories are just out there and he’s got a history of a temper. I wonder what they will talk about during his territory days because he was big in the Pacific and Northwestern territories.
“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert
When Missy Hyatt got interviewed in the Buff Bagwell documentary, I had a feeling they might cover Eddie Gilbert in the next episode. After all, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt were married to each other from 1987-1989. I wonder if Alundra Blayze, aka Madusa, will get interviewed as well. As Eddie Gilbert cheated on Missy Hyatt with her. Blayze and Gilbert also got married to each other as well, for a whopping 4 months.
This is an episode that will cover drug abuse in pro wrestling as Eddie Gilbert was known for his bad drug addiction. Eddie Gilbert passed away on February 18th, 1995 at the age of 33 years old due to a heart attack. I wonder if they’re going to cover that Car Accident in 1983 that almost ended his life.
“Superstar” Billy Graham
Billy Graham is one of the most important professional wrestlers in the business. He is the man who got Hulk Hogan to want to pursue a career in pro wrestling. While Hulk Hogan is a piece of work, he is the man that helps Professional wrestling grow.
As for, Superstar Billy Graham the two things I often think of as being super Dark are the Steroid Abuse and the many near-death experiences he has. Graham was an obvious abuser of steroids. I mean this man admitted that he would inject steroids to other wrestlers including himself. The Steroid Abuse had a tremendous impact on his long-term health. I have lost track of how many transplants he has had throughout his life, but he almost died multiple times.
Billy Graham passed away on May 17th, 2023 due to sepsis. Unfortunately, in his final days, was completely deaf and lost 80 pounds the previous month.
Daffney
Out of all the episodes, this is the episode that I want to see the most is Daffney. I can’t say looking forward too, because if you know her story it’s going to be a depressing watch. Especially with her mental health problems and the way she died was heartbreaking. Before Daffney died, she live-streamed reading a suicide note, holding a weapon, and requesting her brain be donated to science for CTE Testing. The next day it was announced that she had passed away. Just an absolute tragedy what happened.
The car accident in 2012 is insane as a whole. What happened was she hydroplaned at 70 mph and her car flipped multiple times. The car was upside down in three feet of water with her in it. It has to be covered because its a miracle that she didn’t die from it.
One thing is for sure, this episode of Daffney will paint TNA in a really poor light. Especially with the lawsuit she filed regarding the hospital fees TNA refused to pay, which encouraged her to work through it. With the way she got treated in that company, TNA’s PR team better be ready for that episode.
The Original Sheik ” Ed Farhat”
When many people think of the word Sheik in professional wrestling, many people think of The Iron Sheik in WWE. Oh, but there is another Sheik in professional wrestling. The Sheik aka “Ed Farhat” is one of the craziest professional wrestlers in the business. He is one of the first professional wrestlers to do extreme and hardcore wrestling. This was before it got popular with Atsushi Onita’s FMW, ECW, and CZW. This episode will be super interesting as I honestly don’t know too much about The Sheik Ed Farhat beyond that.
So, this episode is the one I am looking forward to the most. Expect Sabu to heavily be involved in this because he is the nephew of The Sheik Ed Farhat. Farhat passed away in January 2003 at the age of 76.
Muhammad Hassan
This episode came out of nowhere because I did not expect Dark Side of the Ring to do an episode on Muhammad Hassan. In my opinion, he’s another one of the greatest what-if stories in WWE history. He was a great heel during the Ruthless Aggression Era of professional wrestling, but unfortunately, his Arab Anti-American gimmick came at a very bad time.
Especially with that feud with the Undertaker, it got very uncomfortable. Remember on that episode of Smackdown when Hassan “prayed” and summoned five masked men with ski masks and camo pants. They attacked the Undertaker and used a piano wire to choke Undertaker out, and Haasan put him in the camel clutch. Then they carried Davari away above their heads. Yeah, it was designed to look like a terrorist attack on WWE TV. Then the 2005 London Bombings took place and WWE had to write him off television and his planned push with Batista ended.
His run was only Seven months, but man what a rise of a superstar. What could have been and Hassan’s career recovered after being written off? After being released from WWE, he ultimately retired from WWE.
When Will Season 6 Premiere?
The first episode of Season 6 will premiere on Tuesday, March 25th at 10:00 PM. I am very excited for Season 6 of the show and I can’t wait to cover each episode.
