Dazia Lawrence’s journey to becoming a key player for the Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team is a testament to her hard work, determination, and perseverance.

Her Days As A 49er

Lawrence, a 5’8″ guard from Greenville, North Carolina, began her collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During her career with the 49ers, she established herself as a talented scorer and playmaker, earning All-Conference USA honors as a junior.

She played four seasons at Charlotte combining for 1,170 points, 287 rebounds, 162 assists and 133 steals, with the bulk of her production added during her junior and senior years as a Niner. Lawrence is coming off her most successful season in 2023-24, averaging 18.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 1.7 steals per game as she earned first-team All-AAC.

However, seeking new challenges and opportunities, Dazia Lawrence decided to transfer to the University of Kentucky. The Wildcats, under the guidance of head coach Kenny Brooks, offered her a chance to compete at the highest level in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

One Of The Best Backcourt Duos

This season, Lawrence has been nothing short of phenomenal for Kentucky. She has seamlessly integrated into the team’s starting lineup, providing a scoring punch and play-making ability that has been instrumental in the Wildcats’ success. Joining All-American point guard Georgia Amoore (19.4 PPG), the tandem has made one of the nation’s best back court duos. Both, earlier this week being named on the watch list for the women’s college basketball 2025 All-Star game played during the Final Four weekend in April.

Dazia’s impact on the team has been multifaceted. She has consistently scored in double figures, including several 20-point performances, and has shown a knack for delivering clutch baskets in critical situations. She has become one of the best shooters in the country, shooting over 45 percent on 53-117 from behind the three-point line, which is tenth overall. Currently, she is third on the team averaging 13.2 points per game through 21 games.

But Lawrence’s influence extends beyond her statistical contributions. She has brought a level of confidence and swagger to the team, which has been instrumental and has helped to elevate the play of her teammates. Her infectious smile and playful demeanor have helped the transfers come together as a family.

The End Of My Dazia Lawrence Rant

As the Wildcats navigate the challenging SEC schedule, Lawrence’s presence has been a key factor in their success. The Wildcats are currently 19-2, ranked 11th in the AP poll, and tied for second place at 8-1 with Texas and LSU in the SEC. Her ability to score, create, and lead has made her an invaluable asset to the team, and her impact will likely continue to be felt as the SEC tournament and March Madness approach.
