“Cristiano Ronaldo’s Return,” States Jose Fonte
The ex-Southampton, Crystal Palace, and West Ham defender Jose Fonte told BoyleSports, “ Make no mistake, for Portugal, for Sporting, and for all football fans in Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo’s return would be the ultimate dream. Cristiano Ronaldo, the 40-year-old top goal scorer of all time, began his career with Sporting CP. Eventually, he caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, and his journey to top European clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus started. Sporting CP was also where he started his journey and became one of the greatest footballers ever to step foot on a pitch.
Ronaldo, however, ruled out a return to his boyhood club recently, stating, “ I love watching Sporting games, it’s my team! But no, never considered a return there as makes no sense”
The Portuguese clarified: “My career started in Portugal, and it’s not because I don’t like Portuguese football or don’t think it has quality. But I think everything has a time and a limit, and I never thought about that, honestly.”
After his 40th birthday, the goal machine is expected to sign a mouth-watering contract extension with Al Nassr, which could see the Portuguese earn €550,000 daily. His aspirations also grow stronger as he draws closer to the landmark 1000th goal.
