The Denver Broncos have made a big splash in free agency by signing 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga. The 25-year-old was selected in the fifth-round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He is regarded as one of the best draft steals of the last few years.

Talanoa Hufanga Is One Of The Best When Healthy

Denver Broncos signed Hufanga.

The Broncos are getting a very talented player in Hufanga. The former USC star started only three games in his rookie year. In 2022, he had a breakout season recording four interceptions, a pick-six, and two sacks. He was named first-team All Pro and participated in the Pro Bowl following the season.

Graded as one of PFF’s top safeties, the future was bright for the young safety. Unfortunately, Hufanga has struggled to stay healthy since. He had a solid season in 2023 recording three interceptions before tearing his ACL. He only played seven games this past season due to a wrist injury that left him wearing a cast during play. With a full offseason to get healthy, Hufanga should be able to return to form as one of the league’s top safeties.

Broncos Improve Safeties Group

Last season, Denver revamped the safety position signing Brandon Jones and moving on from longtime Broncos star Justin Simmons. With this addition, Denver will focus on improving the position that struggled with starter P.J. Locke. Jones was a great signing with an 84.8 PFF grade. Meanwhile, Locke struggled and gave up a passer rating of 125.8 when thrown his way. The 28-year-old was listed as a cap casualty earlier this offseason.

End Of My Broncos Rant

This is a great signing for the Broncos. I’ve been a big fan of Hufanga since his breakout season and I believe that injuries have prevented him from being a household name. Denver is getting a steal and pairing him up with Brandon Jones will make a solid unit one of the league’s best. This is a fantastic move for the Broncos.
