Brazil has had many great soccer teams that have played exciting games in the FIFA World Cup. With such talented players, they can play some enthralling soccer. These are a few of the best Brazil World Cup games in soccer history.
To start with, the Sweden vs Brazil final in 1958. This was one of Brazil’s most significant games in the FIFA World Cup, for Brazil won their first World Cup. In this game, they were playing the host nation, Sweden.
With some fine players such as Pele and Garrincha in their team, Brazil was just too good and scored a record five goals in the final. Sweden also scored two goals to make the final score 5–2 for Brazil. The final had seven goals in total, and some great goals were scored.
Another final, this time in the 1970 World Cup. Brazil’s team would go two goals up before Italy could respond with one. Two further goals from Jairzinho and the captain Carlos Alberto wrapped up the scoring as Brazil ran out 4–1 winners in the final. It was a fine display of attacking football from Brazil, and with it, they won a third World Cup.
This was a great game that had the wrong result for Brazil. They were playing Italy in the 1982 World Cup, with a draw needed to progress to the semi-finals. Brazil’s team had plenty of fine forward players, while Italy had Rossi.
Indeed, Rossi scored first to put Italy in front. Brazil equalized, only for Rossi to score a second. A second goal for Brazil was then scored by Falcao from 20 yards out. Italy would not be denied, and a third goal from Rossi ensured an unexpected 3–2 victory. Italy reached and won the 1982 World Cup final.
Brazil played this 1950 game with a home advantage at the Maracana. Against Sweden, in the second group stage, they thrashed the Swedes 7–1. Ademir was particularly good, as he scored four goals in the game. It was a great victory and one of two for Brazil in the final group. A 2–1 defeat to Uruguay in the final game saw Uruguay win the group and the World Cup by a point.
Those are just a few of the most exciting Brazil matches played in the FIFA World Cup. Such great finals as the 1958 win against Sweden and the 1970 final, as well as exciting games against Italy and Sweden in World Cup group games. Those iconic Brazil World Cup games are now a part of soccer folklore.
