The New York Giants snapped a 10-game losing streak on Sunday by securing their first win at Metlife this season, defeating the Indianapolis Colts, 45-33.

Impact On Draft Order

Unsurprisingly, a win for the Giants greatly impacts their chances at the number 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After the results of the weekend, the G-men sit at the fourth spot, behind New England (First), Tennessee (second), and Cleveland (Third) with one week to play. It is well known that there are two clear quarterbacks coming out of college that will go in the first three picks. Cam Ward out of the University of Miami and Shedeur Sandars from University of Colorado .

It is clear that the Giants need to figure out the quarterback situation. The Patriots believe they have that problem solved, but it is unknown what the Titans think of Will Levis and what the Browns will do alongside Deshaun Watson. With so many questions, the Giants must hover in the top 3 if they want an opportunity at the two top quarterbacks in the draft.

Nabers and Tracy Continue To Shine As Rookies

Both wide-receiver Malik Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy reached the 1,000 total yard mark on Sunday, becoming the first rookie duo since Marques Colston and Reggie Bush did it in 2006.

Nabers caught seven passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, and now has 104 receptions and 1,140 yards receiving on the season. Tracy now has 1,057 total yards coming on 780 rushing and 277 receiving.

Defense Still Hard At Work

The Giants’ defense has been hit with injuries, underperforming stars, and potentially some bad playcalling. It appears that side of the ball is still working hard to impact the outcomes of these games. Safety Jason Pinnock made ten tackles, falling just one behind linebacker Ty Summers for the team lead. Defensive linemen Rakeem Nunez-Roches and Kayvon Thibodeaux each had a sack, while defensive backs Dru Phillips and Dane Belton each recorded an interception.

It Is All About The Quarterback

The New York Giants quarterback room has been one of the most disastrous stories of the NFL. It started with the benching and cutting of Daniel Jones, followed by the back-and-forth of starting Tommy Devito or Drew Lock. In addition, injuries led to Tim Boyle seeing some snaps for the G-men. However, for one game, the Giants received quality play from under center as Lock completed 17-of-23 passes for 309 yards and four passing touchdowns while adding a rushing score.

Brian Daboll said it best when he stated “I think if you get good quarterback play, you have an opportunity in every game.”

It is not a mystery that the Giants will look for an improvement at the quarterback position, but they need to get it right. Whether it be a high-draft pick, a rookie and a stopgap, or a proven veteran, the G-men have been running in place since Eli Manning. Now, they need to ensure they will be successful with a solution under center.
