The Nebraska Cornhuskers entered their Saturday matchup with Indiana Football with a 5-1 record. They hobbled out of Memorial Stadium after a 56-7 smackdown. Some scores don’t tell the full story, but this score tells everything from cover to cover. Indiana dominated every aspect of the game, forcing five turnovers and three punts.

It’s easy to get overshadowed in the Big Ten by their older brothers Ohio State and Penn State, and new step-sibling Oregon. The Hoosiers were ranked 16th in the nation going into this college football weekend. The domination of their opponents all season is unparalleled. For starters, they have the top-ranked scoring offense in Division I (48.7ppg).

Indiana is only allowing 13.7 points per game, and that 35-point differential is the biggest difference in the nation. The Hoosiers’ 512.7 yards per game is more than every team ahead of them in the standings besides Boise State. They only allow 262.6 yards per game, a 250.1 yards per game difference. Of all the teams rated 1-15 going into the weekend, only Miami has a bigger gap between them and their opponents (271.2).

Indiana Football Is Back

Indiana Football, Michael Penix

Nine of the teams ahead of Indiana have at least one loss. Alabama has two. The Hoosiers haven’t been a top-10 team since Michael Penix Jr was their quarterback in November of 2020. It’s unlikely they will get that love in the next poll, with too many people infatuated with big-name schools. Two things are for certain, regardless of how votes are cast going forward. Indiana will be in the playoffs, and it’s time for fans and opponents to stop sleeping on Indiana football.
