Inter Miami are set to bolster their squad with a new signing in the MLS transfer market, this time a defensive recruit. 27-year-old center-back Maximiliano Falcon from Colo Colo is the latest addition to address Miami‘s defensive issues.
How Strongly Falcon Pushed The Move
The Uruguayan defender could not contain his excitement as soon as he got to know Inter Miami wanted his signature. After learning about the offer the MLS side presented him, he pressured Colo Colo to let him go. He even skipped a few training sessions to ensure the switch reached an advanced stage; thus, the two parties agreed on the transfer. According to a Twitter report, the deal is estimated to be around $2 million and is set to be agreed for the 27-year-old defender.

Although his antics drew criticism, you can hardly blame him, as it was an offer no footballer could refuse. Not only was the lucrative contract tempting, but the chance to play with the likes of Lionel Messi and other stars that once rocked Europe.
What The Uruguayan Can Offer To Inter Miami

With over 158 appearances for Colo Colo and spending the last five years in Chile. Having tons of experience in his pocket, he has long been on the radar of Inter Miami and can help Mascherano address the club‘s defensive woes by a wide margin. The Uruguayan is versatile enough to fill the right-back position if needed.
The 27-year-old has also been able to represent his national team, playing for the Uruguayan U-20 and earning five caps. He was also included in Uruguay‘s 35-man squad for the World Cup Qualifiers. Still, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were suspended, effectively ending his opportunity to represent the senior national team.
Mascherano realized that the team might be overly concentrated on the offensive side, given that they had already recruited two forwards in the transfer market. The Argentine, this time, adds a powerful defensive player to balance things out and help them compete for every single trophy starting in February when Inter Miami’s season begins.
