The Kentucky WBB team took on the Purdue Boilermakers and came out on top with a convincing 82-52 win at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Amelia Hassett led the Wildcats with a season-high 22 points, while Georgia Amoore scored 21 points, eclipsing the 2,000-point mark for her career. She is ranked seventh in NCAA DI among active career leaders. Dazia Lawrence added 13 points, Clara Strack had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Teonni Key contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Wildcats overcame a slow start—they trailed 12-8 after the first quarter—to dominate the rest of the game. The Boilermakers came out in a box and one defense on Georgia Amoore, which slowed down the Cats early on.

Catching Fire

In the second quarter, Coach Kenny Brooks made some adjustments for the Wildcats that made a significant difference. Amoore played more aggressively, scoring nine points in the quarter. The Cats took a halftime lead 32-23. Midway through the third quarter, the score was 39-33 when Kentucky took complete control of the game. The Wildcats finished the quarter on a 13-0 run to lead 52-33 after three.

Amelia Hassett caught fire in the fourth period, scoring 11 of her 22 points. She made a season-high five 3-pointers on 5-of-10 from the arc. With Amelia’s 22 points in tonight’s game, four different players have scored 20-plus points this season. Kentucky outscored Purdue in the final three quarters 74-40 while shooting 29-53 from the field for 54.7% the rest of the game after their slow start.

Largest Margin Of Victory For Kentucky WBB

This win marks Kentucky’s first road victory of the season and improves their record to 9-1. The win marked UK’s largest margin of victory in a non-conference road game (30 points) since Nov. 10th, 2013, at Wagner. The 16th-ranked Kentucky Women’s Basketball team has two remaining games, Dec. 20th vs. Belmont and Dec. 28th vs. Western Kentucky at home before SEC play begins.
