The Kentucky Wildcats are set to face off against the Western Kentucky University Lady Toppers on Saturday, December 28th at 4:00 PM ET in the Historic Memorial Coliseum. Western Kentucky (WKU) is off to a strong start this season, boasting a 9-2 record, with their only losses coming against Wichita State and Oregon State.
They are one of the country’s top 50 three-point shooting teams at 35.3% as a team for the season. Four girls who play 20-plus minutes are shooting above 39% from behind the arc.
What The Numbers Say About Kentucky WBB
The Lady Toppers have a well-rounded offense, with four players averaging double-digit points per game: Alexis Mead (13.6 PPG), Acacia Hayes (11.9 PPG), Josie Gilvin (11.1 PPG), and Destiny Salary (12.0 PPG). WKU also excels on defense, averaging 12.5 steals per game, which ranks 21st in the country. Hayes, Mead, Gilvin, and Mackenzie Chatfield are all among the top in steals per game in Conference USA.
The Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team (10-1, ranked 16th in the AP Poll) has had an impressive start to their 2024-25 season. Under the guidance of new head coach Kenny Brooks, the team has shown significant improvement and a strong team dynamic.
With a mix of experienced players and talented newcomers, the Wildcats have demonstrated their ability to adapt and thrive in different game situations.
One of the key strengths of the Wildcats this season has been their offense. Led by players such as Georgia Amoore, the team has consistently shown its ability to score points and make crucial shots when it matters most. Their scoring average has been impressive, with all five starters contributing double figures to the team’s overall point tally.
On the defensive end, the Wildcats have also shown significant improvement. Their ability to limit opponents’ scoring opportunities and lead the country in blocks has been a key factor in their success. With a strong defensive mindset and a willingness to hustle, the Wildcats have shut down opponents and secured important wins.
End Of My Kentucky Rant
The Wildcats will face stiff competition in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) as the season progresses. With a win over WKU, it would be the Cat’s first time ending the non-conference schedule with one loss since the 2020-21 season. Kentucky, however, based on their performance to this point, appears well-equipped to handle the demands of the SEC and make a strong push for postseason success.
