No need for motivation tonight for the Cats as they dominate LSU by 31 points in a rout on Senior Night in a game Kentucky needed after the Auburn loss on Saturday.

Honoring The Seniors

Tonight, Kentucky honored six seniors. It was a special night from the get-go, and the Wildcats never looked back as they went on a huge run in the first half, leading 50-23 at halftime. They never trailed after starting the game down 2-0.

Kentucky finishes the season 15-3 at home. A great send-off for the seniors!

Offensive Explosion

The Wildcats could do no wrong tonight, while LSU simply couldn’t do anything right. Kentucky shot 50.7 percent from the field and went 12-32 from three as well.

Leading the Cats tonight in scoring was Otega Oweh, who had 24 points on 9-11 shooting. Ansley Almonor and Brandon Garrison both finished with 15 points each. It was an all-around game that Kentucky needed for confidence as they head into the final game Saturday against Missouri and the SEC tournament next week.

Moving Forward

Kentucky now enters one of the most significant stretches of the season, and like tonight, when the Cats are hitting shots, this team can beat anybody. If they want to make noise in March, they need Koby Brea, Otega Oweh, Lamont Butler, and Andrew Carr to be in sync with each other and head into the tournament with a motivated mindset.

We’ve all seen what the Cats can do when firing on all cylinders, and for a night, they brought that energy and excitement back to the floor. Senior night was special, and this will be one of those teams Kentucky fans will never forget, especially with all the ups and downs, including the win over Duke and the sweep of Tennessee. It’s been a fun ride.

End Of My Kentucky Rant

These next few weeks are crucial for Kentucky. March hasn’t been kind to them, as they haven’t advanced past the first weekend since 2019. Right now, there’s a lot of pressure on the Wildcats to make some noise and find a way to win next week in Nashville and the following week in March Madness. A run to the Sweet 16 would be a sweet prize for Cats fans after all the ups and downs of this injury-riddled season.

The main thing is getting into the tournament and finding a way, and Kentucky will have that chance. Whenever you get the opportunity to play for a chance to win a title, all it takes is a few wins and a few breaks to go your way, and anything can happen.

Kentucky will now go on the road to end the season and face Missouri, another team that has been rolling lately and playing outstanding basketball. Road games are never easy in the SEC, and this one will be challenging as well.

The job Dennis Gates has done at Missouri is outstanding. It’s impressive from 0-19 in the SEC a year ago to now playing for a top seed in March. If Kentucky can bring the same energy they showed tonight, they have a good chance to get the win in Columbia, Missouri, Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully, as the Cats get some guys back into game action and back healthy, the Cats can figure out how to get a run going in the SEC tournament and begin a quest of playing good basketball as we enter the final stretch.

March Madness is here, and it’s the best time of the year. Let’s hope it’s Kentucky’s time as well. Sure has been a long time coming.
