Spanish media were criticizing Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé after his slow start. La Liga President, Javier Tebas, comes to his defense.
Kylian Mbappé didn’t have the best beginning at Real Madrid. This led many Spanish media outlets to criticize his performance. Some even described him as a flop. Now that Mbappé’s performance is improving, La Liga President Javier Tebas has decided to defend the striker.
Mbappé’s switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid was a dream come true for many of the Spanish side’s fans. The dream soon became a nightmare as the striker didn’t perform as well as fans hoped.
The 26-year-old initially found it challenging to find the back of the net with the same amount he saw while with his previous club. Now, Mbappé has returned to his known performances, to the dismay of Real Madrid’s competitors.
La Liga President Tebas has defended the striker against Spanish outlets. According to Marca, Tebas defended Mbappé during the Madrid Sports Press Association (APDM) gala. Tebas said:
“I’m going to say what I was saying when you were all killing him, that you were saying ‘Oh, how bad Mbappé is’. Many people said it. I said that this player has not forgotten how to play football and that he would give us great afternoons of glory for Real Madrid and Spanish football, and that’s what he’s been doing in recent games. He’s the Kylian Mbappé that we all know. These players don’t forget to play football.”
Tebas is right regarding Mbappé being “the Kylian Mbappé that we all know.” The striker’s performance has improved tremendously in recent weeks. He has scored 21 goals in 31 matches in all competitions, along with three assists. This is the kind of performance that Real Madrid fans are hoping for.
One clear thing is that Mbappé is a world-class player. He might have taken some time to get used to La Liga, but that doesn’t mean he lost his touch. Real Madrid’s opponents will have to fear him more than ever.
Real Madrid fans hope to see Mbappé score even more goals in La Liga and other competitions. Real Madrid are at the top of the La Liga table, and Mbappé has undoubtedly contributed.
