Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are rumored to be after Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu.
Manchester United are looking to bring in reinforcements in hopes of changing things around at the club and finding their way back to victory. One target for the team is Lecce’s left-back Patrick Dorgu.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United are eyeing a move for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu. The team is in need of a wing back that could fit Amorim’s tactics and add depth to his squad.
A deal hasn’t been reached yet, but it is reported that United have already submitted an offer for Lecce. The initial bid, which was estimated at a little bit over €30 million, was rejected by Lecce.
The reports state that if the club want Dorgu then they will have to raise their bid to €35 million plus bonuses. Only then would Lecce be open to seal the deal.
Manchester United are already suffering some injuries which hasn’t made their mission easier. The club needs a player such as Dorgu in hopes of improving the already existing squad.
Dorgu wasn’t United’s primary goal. The club has recently wanted to sign PSG’s Nuno Mendes. Mendes, however, is set to snub Manchester United which might explain why they are after Dorgu in the first place.
Despite Manchester United’s recent interest in the Denmark international, they aren’t the first ones to have their eyes on Lecce’s player. It was reported last year that Chelsea were also interested. So far, United seems more serious since they already have made an initial bid.
Dorgu could be an excellent addition for the team, especially since he is only 20 years old. He has been capped by Denmark four times, and surely, that won’t be the end of his international career. Dorgu has also played 43 matches with Lecce’s first team.
The young talent has joined from Danish club Nordsjælland in 2022. He managed to find the back of the net three times and has added an assist during this Serie A season. With his contract running until 2028, United might hope to sign him soon instead of waiting until the end of his contract.
With Luke Shaw injured, Dorgu can add a lot to Manchester United, especially since he can play on both flanks. Fans will have to wait and see if this deal will go through.
