Since last night, reports have been circulating about Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee. The reports claim that an agreement with Serie A giants Juventus is getting closer.
The Dutchman was signed by Manchester United in the summer transfer window for a fee of £36.5m by Eric Ten Hag, a long admirer of the 23-year-old. However, life in Manchester for the young striker has been as hard as possible. Within four months, rumors about a potential departure from Old Trafford have circulated.
A Possible Move To Turin
According to TuttoSport, Juventus are inching closer to agreeing a loan move for Joshua Zirkzee till the end of the season. The agreement might also have an option to buy, which can be triggered if The Old Lady qualifies for the UEFA Champions League. After a terrible start in Manchester, Zirkzee would not shy away from making an early switch from Old Trafford.
The idea of reuniting with his former boss, Thiago Motta, who helped him become the Serie A young player of the season last year, might be very appealing. Bologna qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history under the rightful guidance of the former Italian midfielder. The Dutchman played a huge part in Bologna’s success, contributing to 23 goals in 58 games for the Italian side. After a possible reunion, the manager and the player would wish they could replicate the same at Juventus.
Motta wants to bolster his attacking options at Juventus and is eyeing several options alongside Zirkzee. Randal Kolo Muami is said to be a potential target for the Old Lady as well. With the persistent injury concerns for Arkadiusz Milik and the financial difficulties they might have to deal with, they might have to sell their prime asset, Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus is seeking creative financial solutions, such as loan moves, to strengthen the squad, which can improve their league position and qualify for the Champions League. That would remove some of the financial stress they have been under.
Did The Reception Seal Joshua Zirkzee’s Fate?
Manchester United lost 2-0 to Newcastle United last night, which made it just one win in six games for Ruben Amorim’s side. Newcastle United dominated the match from the first minute to the last and comfortably managed to see out their lead. United had a few chances to score but were easily second-best the whole night. As frustrating as it already was for the fans, Zirkzee was seen putting very little effort into winning any sort of duel or driving forward United’s attack. The Red Devils were struggling to even come out of their half. The Dutchman was a victim of something that was probably nightmare fuel for a footballer.
He was subbed off in the thirty-second minute for Kobbie Mainoo, and the fans were on their feet, applauding the manager’s decision. The 23-year-old could be seen running down the tunnel later on, and some reports even suggest that he was in literal tears when this happened. Can this be the final nail in the coffin for Zirkzee as a Manchester United player?
End Of Rant
Could a loan move to Turin prove that Joshua Zirkzee was never needed in the first place? Ruben Amorim would be looking to offload a handful of players in the January transfer window, and the Dutchman could be the first to leave the club. For more fearless sports coverage, visit Stadium Rant.
