Manchester United’s recent form has left fans wondering if the team will get better anytime soon or not. Now, Ruben Amorim made a bold statement about his future.
Manchester United have been struggling for a long time now. They aren’t just struggling in the Premier League, but in other competitions as well. This put Amorim’s future under a lot of doubt, and he shares some of that doubt.
The Losses Never End
The team’s performance has been painful to watch for the club’s fans. One of their recent losses came against Fulham in the FA Cup’s fifth round.
Despite fans’ hope to move to the next round, Manchester United were knocked out after penalties. Amorim had a lot to say after such a result.
Trophies Aren’t Everything
In shocking claims, Amorim told Sky Sports that there are more important things than winning trophies. To him, Manchester United are in a building stage.
“Of course we lost last week in the cup, so people are looking at this Europa League as the unique competition that we can win,” head coach Amorim told Sky Sports. “Also, the connection with winning the Europa League with Champions League. I know it’s strange to say that but it’s something that we are trying to build here, that is going to be more important than winning a cup in this moment. I know the responsibility that we have to fight for every trophy, but in this moment we are trying to build something that is going to last more than any trophy this season.”
Things Would Get Better
Manchester United’s results right now might not be the best, but Amorim believes that things will get better. He, however, made a shocking claim that he might not be there when things improve.
“I understand what people are saying because if you look how our team is playing and the results, it’s hard to imagine big things in this moment for our club. But in the darkest moment we have to have like a light in the path, and that is clear here. I’m sure…I don’t know if I’m going to be here, but the way we are thinking things we are going to return and we are going to win in the future.”
The Club Is Doing Hard Things
In addition to these comments, Amorim also talked about the plain truth of the club losing games. These losses are accompanied by a lot of layoffs at Manchester United.
“But then it’s the risk. We are doing a lot of things, we are not winning games, and when you don’t win games sometimes you have to change people, and we know that. But as a club, I think we are doing a lot of things that are hard to do. A lot of people in the staff are paying that price, but we are doing the things that we should do to win in the future.”
Amorim Might Not Stay Longer
Amorim is right to think that he might not be at Manchester United once things get better. Since he took charge, the team’s results have gone from bad to worse.
His contract lasts until 2027, but I don’t think he would stay till the end. After all, clubs want good results while you build a good team. The building process will only get ruined by bad results.
End Of My Manchester United Rant
Manchester United’s fans might be shocked at Amorim’s comments about him not being there when things get better. They might not mind him leaving if that meant the team would start to win.
