Manchester United have their eyes set on Napoli’s star Victor Osimhen. The club is ready to make a swap deal by adding Rasmus Hojlund to the mix.
Manchester United are reportedly looking to strengthen their attack by signing Napoli’s star, Osimhen.
News broke out that Manchester United are seriously considering signing Napoli’s Osimhen. According to Calciomercato.com, the club plans to bolster their attacking line for the 2025/26 season.
Osimhen, however, has a €75 million release clause which might make things difficult for the Red Devils. So far, it has been reported that United wants to pay €40m and include Rasmus Hojlund as a swap deal.
Manchester United wanting Osimhen and being ready to offer Hojlund isn’t that surprising. The latter has been out of form for a long time now, which makes him no longer a solution to United’s attacking problems.
On the other hand, Osimhen is shining at Galatasaray where he is on a loan deal. So far, he managed to score 20 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions and provided five assists.
The plan is that he returns to Napoli in the summer, but things might change with Manchester United’s involvement.
Hojlund’s poor form makes him more likely to leave the club whether this swap deal got done or not. He has been struggling to find the back of the net on several occasions.
Now, everyone can see that the striker is no longer useful to the team. Manchester United are probably considering this deal due to this poor performance where Hojlund scored only in two Premier League games.
Coming from Atlanta for around £72 million, Hojlund was expected to write history with Manchester United. His contract will end by 2028, but it is likely that he would depart the club before that.
The fee for the striker made fans believe that they were getting a one-of-a-kind player. Instead, the fans and Rubén Amorim are left frustrated. Now, Hojlund might be close to returning to Serie A.
A player with Osimhen’s talent is seen to be one that can make a change in any club he plays for. United’s desperate need for a good striker might be solved with Osimhen’s signing.
I believe that he could be the solution to Amorim’s problems, especially with Manchester United’s continuous struggles.
If the deal got done and Osimhen somehow failed at United, then the club won’t be able to avoid the growing belief that talents get wasted there.
Whether Osimhen will join United or not it yet to be seen. What is certain is that the club needs to change things around, and quickly.
