Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have just secured a deal for their newest player, Diego Leon. What are the details?
In exciting news for Manchester United fans, journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the club secured a new deal to bring in 17-year-old fullback Diego Leon next year. This comes after a period during which United, among other clubs, showed interest in the young talent.
It was revealed that Manchester U’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, has been leading negotiations to sign Leon since November. With the reported interest from other big clubs, United’s fans will be delighted that a deal was reached. Only time will prove if Leon is a good signing or not.
How Much Did The Deal Cost Manchester United?
The Paraguayan young talent is set to join the team in July 2025, once he turns 18 years old. According to Romano, The deal is reportedly worth $4 million. There are some additional details finalized, which include up to $4 million in add-ons. Leon is joining Manchester United from his current club, Cerro Porteno.
Is Leon Useful To Manchester United?
Leon could be a dream come true for Manchester United if his talent is developed in the right way. While he usually plays as a left-back, Leon can also make the switch to a left wing-back position. In 21 appearances this season, Leon scored two goals for his current team.
Leon can be a future solution to the team’s problems with the left-back position. With the ongoing injuries of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Leon can become exactly what Amorim is looking for. He might prove himself useful for the first team.
What Should Manchester United Expect From Leon?
Of course, Manchester United fans will be hoping to see what Leon is capable of. It is, however, wise not to expect an immediate impact. Making the move from South America to England isn’t easy, and Leon might need more time to adapt to the new environment. Hopefully, the club will benefit from such a signing.
