Manchester United’s Antony spoke in a recent interview about his time with the English side. He also talked about how he feels now that he is on a loan at Real Betis.

Antony Failing At Manchester United

When Manchester United made the deal for Antony, everyone thought that he would break one record after another, especially with his £82 million transfer. This, however, didn’t happen.

So it didn’t come as a surprise that Untied were ready to send him out on a loan.

Antony had an interview with DAZN where he talked about his time with Manchester United. The interview’s details were provided by Estadio Deportivo. The Brazilian said:

“If they pay that kind of money for you, it’s because you have talent and quality. Wherever I go, I’ll always speak highly of United. I’m very grateful to the club and to Erik ten Hag for what we experienced together, for the titles, and for everything I’ve learned. I had difficult times there, but also very good ones. I think it prepared me to be here today, enjoying myself. My mind is here, and I’m very happy.”

Antony Shining At Real Betis

Antony probably doesn’t have any regrets about Manchester United now that he is performing more than well at Real Betis.

In just 11 games across all competitions, he managed to score four goals and have four assists as well.

Now, Antony believes that moving to Real Betis was the right decision for his career.

“I found myself, I needed to find myself and be happy. I needed my family to be happy too. Every day that goes by I see that it was the best decision I could have made. I’m enjoying the city, the club and everything. It reminds me a lot of Brazil because of the sun, the food, the people are also very happy. All of that is important for someone like me who is used to it.”

Antony Went Through A Lot

Finally finding himself in the right place might mean a lot to Antony who has opened up about his childhood. As a kid, the Brazilian was living in the Inferninho favela, which he has tattooed on his back.

“It’s a very important place for me, one that will be with me for life. I went through a lot there and learned a lot of things too, bad and good. It was difficult for me and my family, but I was always smiling. I didn’t have boots to play with, but I was always a very persistent kid, and today I’m here and I’m happy. I’ve always had a very strong personality, and the harder things were, the stronger I became. Whenever I have a complicated situation, I remember what I went through in the favela. It was a place where there weren’t many opportunities, but I pursued my dream and was able to turn my life around.”

Antony Should Stay At Real Betis

As Antony’s loan progresses, it becomes clear that he should leave Manchester United permanently. Just like he said, he has found himself at Real Betis.

He is already playing well in such a short time. The change of environment was good for him, and maybe it’s time to say goodbye to Manchester United.

One thing for sure, Real Betis are interested in keeping Antony. He might not mind that too, especially since he is thriving under Manuel Pellegrini’s leadership.

End Of My Manchester United Rant

If Antony wants to remain at Real Betis, Manchester United shouldn’t stop him. They will surely think of the best way to benefit themselves, but his wishes should matter too.
