Manchester United have been interested in PSG’s Nuno Mendes, but the defender is set to snub the Red Devils.
Manchester United’s recent struggles have encouraged Ruben Amorim to start looking for reinforcements. The head coach had his eyes set on Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes, but it seems that the defender is going to snub United.
With the recent performance of Manchester United’s defensive line, the club is looking to bring in new players. Amorim was keen to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s wing-back, Nuno Mendes. Someone with Mendes’ talent would be a great addition to the team during their current struggles. This is why Amorim was hoping for a move to happen either this January or in the Summer.
Despite the club’s interest, it seems like a deal is unlikely to happen. Reports from L’Équipe state that Mendes is set to snub the Red Devils. The defender wants to stay at Paris Saint-Germain and is looking forward to signing a new contract with the club.
While doubt surrounded Mendes’s future at PSG when Manchester United started to show their interest, it is no longer there. The same reports stated that Luis Enrique played an important role in convincing Mendes to stay at the club. Apparently, Mendes is an essential part of Enrique’s plans.
Now, Mendes’ entourage believes that he is going to renew his contract. His current contract is set to expire in 2026, so we will have to see what will happen in the next few weeks.
Manchester United will now have to look for a replacement since Mendes is no longer an option. The club still needs to make some deals including a striker. One name that had been circulating is that of Viktor Gyokeres, especially with Amorim wanting to sign him. The Red Devils fans are waiting for things to change.
