It is just days before the first-ever college football playoff game will be played at Ohio State’s stadium. While the Buckeyes are preparing to take down Tennessee, one of their young players has decided to enter the transfer portal.

Last week, backup quarterback Devin Brown announced that he would enter the portal but stay with the team until the end of the playoffs. Another quarterback will soon join him in the portal.

Ohio State Loses Another Quarterback

On Monday, redshirt freshman quarterback Air Noland announced he would be entering the transfer portal after one season in Columbus, and he was expected to be the Buckeye’s number-one option in the 2024 class, but Julian Sayin left Alabama after a few days when Nick Saban announced his retirement.

Sayin is now the Buckeye’s number-one quarterback option going into next season, and Noland probably saw no path to him getting on the field. One of the best quarterbacks in the 2025 class, Tavien St. Clair, will also be heading to Ohio State this off-season.

Noland was the seventh-ranked quarterback out of high school last season per 247sports.com and should be one of the highly regarded quarterbacks in this year’s portal since he will have four years of eligibility remaining and has tons of upside.

Ohio State

Ohio State will need to add a quarterback through the portal since they have now lost Brown, Noland, and Will Howard, leaving them a room of nobody with any experience playing more than a game in college.

The Buckeyes will host Texas in Week One of next year, and there is an excellent chance that Sayin will be the starting quarterback, but if he isn’t ready to take the job, then Ohio State is going to need to make sure they have a veteran that can take over.
