Week five is here for the NASCAR Cup Series as they head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Here are some of the favorites to win this week’s 400-mile race on Sunday, March 16.
Joey Logano
Joey Logano is a favorite to win the Pennzoil 400 at +1250 this weekend. Jimmie Johnson and Logano are tied for the most wins at the track with four. Logano’s last win at the track was during the championship eight playoff race on October 24 last year, where he led only six laps. The late-race fuel strategy call from his crew chief, Paul Wolfe, paid off, earning Logano a spot in the championship four NASCAR playoffs. This win led to Logano’s locking up the championship the following week in Phoenix.
Kyle Larson
Kyle Larson, is a favorite to win the Pennzoil 400 at +450 this weekend. Larson in 17 starts, has three wins, eight top-five finishes, and 12 top-10s at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He has won the last two of three races at the track, including the spring 2024 race, where he led the most laps. Overall, he has led 629 laps at the speedway, which is second all-time behind Kevin Harvick. Larson comes into this race one point out of the top 10 in points.
William Byron
William Byron is another favorite to win the Pennzoil 400 at +600. He is the current points leader and has led 100 laps this year. He won the spring race in 2023, after a wild turn of events from a late caution. The win off of pit road set Bryon outside on the front row against leader Martin Truex, Jr., who did not pit. Byron was able to drive away off of the restart and pick up his first win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Christopher Bell
Christopher Bell is the current driver to beat in 2025. He comes into this weekend with three consecutive wins and looks to make history with four. He is another favorite in the Pennzoil 400 at +600. With his three wins, he has three top fives and three top 10s and has led 114 laps. A win this weekend would put him in rare company with eight other drivers in the modern era of NASCAR with four straight wins.
2024 Race Spring Winner
Kyle Larson won the spring race after an outstanding performance. The Hendrick Motorsports driver led 181 of 267 laps and won the first two stages. Larson held off Tyler Reddick after a late restart with 27 laps left. Larson took off after the restart, but in the closing laps, Reddick closed the gap, and Larson held on for the victory. It was Larson’s third win at the track, tying Brad Keselowski among active NASCAR Cup drivers.
Previous Race Recap: Shriners Children’s 500
Last week’s race saw a thrilling finish between Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin. On a late restart with two laps to go, both drivers were side-by-side to the checkered flag, but Bell edged out Hamlin for the second-closest finish in Phoenix Raceway’s history. It was Bell’s third consecutive win of the season as he led for 105 laps. The top five finishers were Bell, Hamlin, Larson, Josh Berry, and Chris Buescher.
End Of My NASCAR Rant
You can tune into Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 at 3:30 pm Eastern time, as it should be a great race with a few things to watch. Bell and Bryon go into this race, separated by 13 points, and look to continue their early season battle. Larson is always a threat at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and looks to get his fourth track win. Logano is looking to make history and become the winningest driver at the track with a fifth win.
