Week Four Fantasy Football Studs and Duds

Stud: Kenneth Walker, RB, Seattle Seahawks

After missing back-to-back games due to injury, Kenneth Walker had a monstrous fantasy outing in week four which should put an end to any concerns managers have about his injury. Walker diced up the Detroit defensive unit with 80 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.

He also added value to the passing game with another 36 yards on four receptions, which is something new. Walker has never been much of a receiving threat, failing to top 30 receptions in either of his two previous seasons. While it is a small sample size, Walker is on pace for 51 receptions on the season, giving him a lot of value in PPR leagues.

Kenneth Walker’s 33.60 fantasy points would earn him honors as the RB2 of the week. That game would also boost his average points per game to 26.30, ranking him second to only Alvin Kamara. He is currently 6th in the league in yards per carry (5.7) and looks as good as ever. Kenneth Walkers is a high-end RB1 and could even be the rest of season RB1 if he keeps up the receiving usage and stays healthy.

Dud: Travis Etienne, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

Another week, another poor Travis Etienne performance. Etienne has yet to score more than 15 PPR fantasy points and surpass 13 carries in a game this season. His usage and efficiency have dropped significantly since last year, causing many to panic. To make matters worse, the Jaguars are not good this season, so mixing the limited scoring opportunities with a less-than-stellar Travis Etienne is concerning..

The situation in Jacksonville is tricky to assess because Travis Etienne is a talented back, but the Jaguars have to abandon the run game in most scenarios because they just cannot keep up with opposing teams. Until the offense finds its groove, he is more of a player who is reliant on the game script than he is as an RB1 lock like he was last season.

Because of the current situation, Etienne is a prime buy-low candidate. He did just finish the previous year as the RB3 in PPR leagues and is still the same player, so it would be wise to buy in on the talent. He should get back on track this season against Indianapolis who rank 30th in run defense.

Stud: Dontayvion Wicks, WR, Green Bay Packers

It is time. The highly anticipated Dontayvion Wicks season is here. Wicks finished week four as the WR3, scoring 24.80 fantasy points on five receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He had a couple of timely drops which significantly affected the outcome of the game and his fantasy performance; he could have gone for 30+ points. Wicks should continue to be a stud for some time now, especially with the injury of Christian Watson.

This could be Dontayvion Wicks’ chance to earn the featured “X” role on the Packers offense and be a trusted fantasy starter. He and Love have good chemistry, with Wicks tied for first on the team in targets. He deserves to be a weekly starter as a young, gifted athlete in a high-scoring offense but could prove to be more of a boom/bust type of player since the Packers have a handful of good pass catchers.

Dud: Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins

When was the last time Tyreek Hill has been on anyone’s dud list? It was widely assumed that Tyreek Hill was borderline “QB proof”, but the horrid quarterback situation in Miami has shown that to be false. Outside of Tua, Miami has nobody capable of leading an offense and getting the ball to their star players.

Tyreek Hill is fine, but the mix of Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley is just not getting things done. Hill looked spectacular in the one full game played with Tua Tagovailoa. In that game, he finished as the WR4 with 26.00 total fantasy points. Hill caught seven of twelve targets for 130 yards and one touchdown.

Since week one, Tyreek Hill has failed to score more than 8.2 fantasy points in any matchup. The Dolphins need a spark from their quarterback room which may not come until Tua is back, meaning Hill may continue to put up more dud performances than not. It may be too crazy to consider benching Hill, but expectations should at least be tempered until the offense figures out who they are without Tua.
