2024 Week 2 NFL Predictions
Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins looked solid in their win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. They took some time to find their groove, but once they did they were off to the races. The Bills had a great win in week 1. Josh Allen took over the game and scored 2 passing touchdowns along with 2 on the ground. He’s still finding his WR1, but in the meantime, he can carry the Bills’ offense. Both teams will get better through the year, but the Bills are better now.
Winner: Bills
New Orleans Saints @ Dallas Cowboys
The Saints had an impressive showing in week 1, but it’s unclear how much that has to do with them, or the Panthers’ incompetence. The Cowboys’ defense is a force to be reckoned with early in the year. If New Orleans is legit, this will be their chance to show it. Unfortunately, the Cowboys are too loaded to drop this one.
Winner: Cowboys
Las Vegas Raiders @ Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens were a toe away from overtime with the Super Bowl champions. Their defense was solid, but their offensive line was a glaring problem.
The Raiders are a new team under head coach Antonio Pierce, but they haven’t found their identity yet. Maybe they’ll steal a few wins early in the year, but this isn’t one of them.
Winner: Ravens
New York Giants @ Washington Commanders
The Commanders lost to the Buccaneers in week 1. It was Jayden Daniels’ first NFL start and he played against a tough opponent. The potential is there and this offense will come together this year.
The Giants are coming off a disheartening loss to the Vikings. They looked completely unprepared and struggled in every phase of the game. Going into week 2, the Commanders look to be the more efficient team.
Winner: Commanders
Los Angeles Chargers @ Carolina Panthers
The Chargers are exactly what everyone expected under Jim Harbaugh. They’re a “rush the ball and play strong defense” kind of team. LA looked great in Harbaugh’s debut, and they have a perfect week 2 matchup to continue that momentum. They face an incomplete Panthers team that has a ton of work to do this season. The Chargers should win this by double digits.
Winner: Chargers
Indianapolis Colts @ Green Bay Packers
With the increasing likelihood that Jordan Love sits this game out, Green Bay looks to Malik Willis in week 2. Willis has talent, but he’s no Jordan Love. The Colts looked promising in their week 1 loss to the Texans, and they kept it close down to the wire. Green Bay will take this one on the chin while Love recuperates.
Winner: Colts
San Francisco 49ers @ Minnesota Vikings
The 49ers were arguably the most efficient NFL team in week 1. They carved up the Jet's defensive line without Christian McCaffrey, and the defense shut Aaron Rodgers down. The Vikings looked great in their win over the Giants, but they did play the Giants. This is Minnesota’s first real test, and unfortunately, the Niners are too good right now.
Winner: 49ers
Cleveland Browns @ Jacksonville Jaguars
The Browns were dominated by the Cowboys’ defense on Sunday. Deshaun Watson threw for 169 yards, with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. They go into week 2 against a talented Jaguars squad.
Jacksonville led a strong charge early on against Miami, but couldn’t stay hot. This game will be a close call, but the Jaguars will get their first win of the year on Sunday.
Winner: Jaguars
Seattle Seahawks @ New England Patriots
Both of these teams had impressive victories in week 1, and both should be happy going into this game. The Pats struggled to find the endzone in their opening game, while the Seahawks hit it 3 times. Seattle’s offense is more efficient right now, and that will be their path to victory.
Winner: Seahawks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are hot right now. The city is buzzing and the team knows how to win games. The Buccaneers had a decisive victory over the Commanders in week 1, and they looked terrific. This will be a different kind of game. Jared Goff isn’t a rookie, the Lions' defense is as tough as they come, and they play hard. This game should be competitive and exciting down to the wire.
Winner: Lions
New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans
The Jets had a rough first outing against the 49ers last week. The defensive line was nonexistent, and Rodgers didn’t have many opportunities to make big plays. The Titans lost to the Bears without allowing a single offensive touchdown.
Aaron Rodgers is going into Tennessee with something to prove against an easier opponent. This will be his first big performance as a New York Jet.
Winner: Jets
Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are back at full strength and on a good path. It’ll take some time to become contenders though. The Rams are without Puka Nacua this week, but the Stafford-Kupp connection was on fire in their opener. Matt Stafford is a top 5 QB in the league right now, and he won’t let his team lose against a rival.
Winner: Rams
Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs
Joe Burrow and the Bengals are looking to shake off a rough loss to New England. They looked bad in many facets, but the rust should be off now. The Mahomes-Burrow rivalry is always entertaining, but timing may hurt this round. These teams may meet again in the playoffs, but right now it’s not very close.
Winner: Chiefs
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos
The Steelers and the Giants are the only teams in week 1 to not score a touchdown. All signs point to a Justin Fields start once again. He was nearly a game-time decision in week 1, but now he’s getting those first-team reps and building chemistry. The Steelers' defense will run all over Bo Nix this week, and Fields’ production will increase.
Winner: Steelers
Chicago Bears @ Houston Texans
The Bears looked good in Caleb Williams’ debut. They won without scoring an offensive touchdown, so it’s only up from here. The Texans are juggernauts though. CJ Stroud is still terrific, Joe Mixon had 30 rushes for 159 yards, and Stefon Diggs looks right at home. They’re a top 5 team in the league right now, and Caleb Williams will have to take this as a learning experience.
Winner: Texans
Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles
On Monday Night Football, the Eagles come home to Philly and welcome the Atlanta Falcons. The Eagles were humming last Thursday against the Packers, and they were as dangerous as ever. Atlanta had a disappointing first outing against the Steelers, and Kirk Cousins still has some rust to shake off. Unfortunately, they’re facing a mountain on Monday, and it’ll be too tall to climb.
Winner: Eagles
