2024 Week 8 NFL Predictions

Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams

Justin Jefferson and Sam Darnold
Justin Jefferson and Sam Darnold are on fire right now.

The Vikings suffered their first loss to the Detroit Lions last week on a walk-off field goal. Nothing should be taken away from Minnesota, though. They kept things extremely close with a Super Bowl contender. The Rams won in week seven, but that was due to a defensive mismatch. LA forced four turnovers against a weak Raiders offense. The Rams are still fighting from underneath and don’t have the firepower to keep up with Minnesota.

Winner: Vikings

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns

Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry has been a massive part of the Ravens' dominance.

This one should be a near certainty, considering the Ravens are juggernauts. Baltimore is on a five-game win streak, and Lamar Jackson had five touchdown passes against the Buccaneers. Derrick Henry is balling out and looks better than ever at 30. The Browns are now without Deshaun Watson, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson is unfortunately not much of an improvement. Cleveland is in a bad spot this weekend against a dominant division rival.

Winner: Ravens

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans

CJ Stroud
CJ Stroud rushing in for a touchdown.

The Texans looked completely unlike themselves in a week seven loss to the Packers. CJ Stroud went 10/21 for 86 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. They kept up on the ground, though, with Joe Mixon rushing for 115 yards and two touchdowns. They’re struggling to find their footing without Nico Collins right now. The Colts have been winning games but not in convincing fashion, and their last two came against bad teams. This is a good matchup for the Texans to get their groove back.

Winner: Texans

Green Bay Packers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Jayden Reed
Jayden Reed is a breakout star in Green Bay's offense.

This is another game that seems like a sure thing. The Packers’ offense is top 10 in passing yards (7th), receiving yards (9th), rushing yards (3rd), and points (5th). They’re one of the most efficient teams in the NFL right now. The Jaguars have struggled to put points on the board on offenses, and their defense has been abysmal. They rank 31st in interceptions (1) and 27th in forced fumbles (3). Jacksonville's defense doesn't have the ability to slow Jordan Love down on Sunday.

Winner: Packers

Tennessee Titans @ Detroit Lions

Jared Goff
The Lions might be the best team in the NFL right now.

The Detroit Lions have been on fire. Since their bye week, they’ve decimated the Cowboys in a 47-9 blowout and snapped the Vikings' 5-0 record. Jared Goff has been nearly perfect since their week 3 win over Arizona, and the defense is outstanding. The Titans are coming off another crushing loss in week seven. Their offense is one of the worst in the NFL, and it doesn’t matter who’s throwing the ball. Whether Tennessee starts Levis or Rudolph on Sunday, Detroit wins this by a large margin.

Winner: Lions

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins throwing a pass.

Three weeks after their last face-off, both teams sit at 4-3 and have cooled off tremendously. In week seven, the Falcons lost to the Seahawks 34-14, and the Bucs lost to the Ravens 41-31. This won’t be the barn burner they had in week five, but it’s still a 50/50 matchup. Tampa Bay is likely missing Chris Godwin and Mike Evans for this one, so Atlanta now gets the slight edge.

Winner: Falcons

New York Jets @ New England Patriots

Davante Adams
Davante Adams caught three passes for 30 yards in his Jets debut.

The Jets have been getting a lot of flack for their week seven loss to the Steelers. The team still looks incomplete, even with the addition of Davante Adams. They're struggling, but it's easy to forget that this team doesn't have a coach. They have a loaded offense that's finding a new identity. The New England Patriots’ third overall pick, Drake Maye, seems to be the real deal, and he’s playing very well, but the team around him is still not great. The Jets have plenty of problems, but they have a better team here.

Winner: Jets

Arizona Cardinals @ Miami Dolphins

Marvin Harrison Jr.
Marvin Harrison Jr. hauls in a difficult catch.

The Dolphins have taken Tua Tagovailoa off of IR, and at the time of this writing, it’s unclear if he will start on Sunday. If he does play, he’ll undoubtedly have some rust to shake off. The Cardinals had a nice win against the Chargers on Monday night, but they’re still extremely inconsistent. Luckily for Arizona, their opponent is on the back foot here.

Winner: Cardinals

Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinnati Bengals

Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley had a monster game against the Giants in week seven.

The Eagles picked the Giants apart in a 28-3 week seven win. Philly looked like a threat again, but it’s unclear if that’s the case or if the Giants are just that bad. The Bengals continued their trend of being the best offense on the field, while their defense can't stop giving up points. This is tough, but Philly's playmakers might be too much to stop.

Winner: Eagles

New Orleans Saints @ Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert
Justin Herbert drops back to pass.

The Chargers have had a hard time finding the end zone lately. They’ve won all three games where they scored more than 20 points. LA loves eating the clock, but they struggle to turn it into anything meaningful. The Saints have been on a complete spiral, losing their last five straight games. Injuries have depleted New Orleans, and without weapons like Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave, they’re only falling further. The Bolts have a real chance to find a spark here.

Winner: Chargers

Buffalo Bills @ Seattle Seahawks

Josh Allen
Josh Allen looks to extend the Bills to 6-2.

The Seahawks are an extremely confusing team. They lost their footing for a few weeks, but they seem to have found it again. While the Seahawks have proven they shouldn’t be counted out, the Buffalo Bills are the exception. Josh Allen has been a machine this year with 12 passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The Bills are a dangerous team to go up against because they’re nearly impossible to stop. While this isn’t a shoo-in, the Bills should be the choice.

Winner: Bills

Chicago Bears @ Washington Commanders

Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams is catching up to his hype.

The Bears are coming off a bye week, but they looked terrific heading into it. They had back-to-back dominant wins against the Panthers and Jaguars, and Caleb Williams is finding a nice rhythm. The Commanders are also coming off a dominant win over the Panthers. Williams vs. Daniels has the potential to be a show every time they face off; unfortunately, that might have to wait. Daniels is doubtful at this time and seems highly likely to sit out. If Daniels plays then Washington wins this one, if not it goes to the Bears.

Winner: Bears

Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders

Xavier Worthy
Chiefs' rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy scoring a touchdown.

The Raiders have been a difficult team to watch this season. The offense is completely inept, and the defense gives up more than 20 points every week. Vegas is 2-5 going against the Super Bowl champions this week. The problem in Kansas City is the Chiefs do not look like themselves. They’re 6-0, but Patrick Mahomes is not playing well, and Travis Kelce is nonexistent on the field. They’re also without Rashee Rice and Isiah Pacheco. They are making a trade for DeAndre Hopkins, someone who should add firepower to their offense. The Chiefs keep finding ways to win; they're the favorites every week until they lose.

Winner: Chiefs

Carolina Panthers @ Denver Broncos

Bo Nix
The Denver Broncos have exceeded expectations with rookie Bo Nix.

The Panthers are 1-6 going into this game. Whether it’s Bryce Young or Andy Dalton under center, this team is not competitive. The Broncos, however, are a different story. Denver has won four of its last five games, and it’s a surprisingly good team. Their defense is one of the best in the NFL, and the offense keeps up every week. They should have a field day against the Panthers.

Winner: Broncos

Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers

Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott drops back to pass.

The Cowboys are coming off a much-needed bye after a 47-9 blowout loss to the Lions in week six. Dallas has been struggling against strong teams all season. The 49ers are a team that is riddled with injuries. George Kittle and Deebo are questionable, Brandon Aiyuk is out for the year, CMC is still on IR, and their kicker Jake Moody is hurt. This should be a good chance for the Cowboys to bounce back against a weak opponent, but that’s no guarantee.

Winner: Cowboys

New York Giants @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson has taken over the reigns in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers started Russell Wilson last week, and he looked much better than expected. This season, the week seven win over the Jets was Pittsburgh’s highest-scoring game. The defense is still fantastic, and they seem to be on a great track. The Giants were horrible in their 28-4 loss to the Eagles. New York’s offense is nonexistent despite a defense that leads the leagues in sacks. Two terrific defenses will be the focal point of this game, but the Giants’ offense won’t be able to keep up once again.

Winner: Steelers
