Toronto Blue Jays vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox
Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels
Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants
Toronto Blue Jays Vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Alek Manoah vs. Johan Oviedo
A new weekend interleague series starts tonight between these two teams headed in opposite directions. The Blue Jays are fighting each and every day to stay in the wild card race while the Pirates are solidly in the bottom of the National League standings.
To kick off the series the Blue Jays will send Alek Manoah to the mound. On the year he has a 2.60 ERA and a 3.58 xERA. Tonight he will be pitching in Pittsburgh, and away from home he is better than he is at home in Toronto with a 2.55 road ERA. In his last two outings he has only allowed 2 ER in 13 innings while striking out 16. He will be facing a Pirates offense that is bottom 5 in the league both overall and against right handed pitchers, which Manoah is, over the past month.
For the Pirates they will start newly acquired Johan Oviedo for the first time since they traded for him at the trade deadline. In his 25.1 innings pitched this year while a member of the Cardinals he had a 3.20 ERA and a 3.09 xERA. He has only started one game this year so far. He will be taking on a Blue Jays offense that is playing below its usual standards. Even so, they are in the top half of offense in the league in the past 30 days at 16th with a team wRC+ of 98.
Even with the Blue Jays not hitting as they should over the past month they are the superior offense and Manoah is clearly the better starting pitcher to Oviedo. Take out the risk of the bullpen and bet the Blue Jays to win the first 5 innings of the game on the run line to cut the juice as the Jays are the heavy favorites.

Texas Rangers Vs. Boston Red Sox
Dallas Keuchel vs. Nick Pivetta
What a wild game this series started with last night. We lost our pick of the Rangers but they had a 6 run lead in the 8th inning and lost the game. They will look to get revenge today with a veteran starter they recently grabbed from waivers.
For the Rangers they will send Dallas Keuchel to the mound, who has made just one start for them so far this year. On the year with 3 different teams he has totaled an 8.84 ERA and a 5.30 xERA. In his first start with the Rangers he gave up 7 ER in 5.1 innings pitched and struck out just one Detroit Tiger. Today he will face a Red Sox offense that exploded last night for 9 runs and is top 10 offensively over the past month vs lefties, which Keuchel is, and overall.
The Red Sox will send Nick Pivetta to the bump to try to slow down the Rangers offense that scored 8 last night. On the season thus far Pivetta has a 4.40 ERA and a 4.33 xERA. He has been worse while pitching at home in Fenway, which is where he will be tonight, with a 4.83 ERA. In his last outing he gave up 5 ER in 5 innings to the Rays while walking 3 and striking out 4. He will be taking on this Rangers offense that ranks 4th in baseball in the past 30 days in team offense with a wRC+ of 115.
Both bullpens will be exhausted today after using a number of pieces in the game last night. The Red Sox bullpen ranks LAST in baseball in the past month with a 6.37 ERA. Take the over in this game as it truly cant be high enough on Dallas Keuchel day.

Houston Astros Vs. Los Angeles Angels
Lance Mccullers vs. Reid Detmers
After a day off for each of these teams a new AL West rivalry series kicks off tonight in Los Angeles. The Astros will be looking to prove they are the top team in the American League while the Angels will be looking to prove they aren’t a laughing stock, even with two of the best players of their generation.
Starting for the Angels tonight will be Reid Detmers who brings with him a 3.47 ERA and a 4.10 xERA. He has faced this Astros offense twice this season already and in those starts the Angels were 0-2. Detmers will be taking on an Astros offense that over the past month has hit left handers like Detmers at the 3rd best rate with a .372 wOBA and 5th best overall offensively with a wRC+ of 115.
For the Astros they will send Lance Mccullers to the mound. The Astros waited a long time for Mccullers to make his season debut and in three starts thus far has a 1.69 ERA and a 4.60 ERA in 16 innings. He will be facing an Angels offense that is bottom ten both overall offensively and against righties like Mccullers.
The Astros have a hotter offense right now and are thriving against LHP at the moment. Detmers for the Angels has been reliable on the year but this line just isn’t high enough for the difference in talent in this game. Take the Astros to continue their dominance and win this game.
HOU ML, -150.
Philadelphia Phillies Vs. San Francisco Giants
Kyle Gibson vs. Alex Cobb
Another new series kicks off tonight between these two teams looking to prove themselves. The Phillies need to win every game they can as they are trying to stay in a wildcard playoff spot and the Giants are struggling to keep up with the magic they had last year.
For the Phillies they will send Kyle Gibson to the bump tonight to start off the series with his 4.08 ERA and 4.01 xERA. Through all of August Gibson totaled 31.1 innings with just a 2.30 ERA. Tonight he faces a Giants offense that ranks 25th offensively against RHP like Gibson with a .286 wOBA and 21st overall with a wRC+ of 92 over the past month.
On the other side for the Giants is Alex Cobb who has a 3.81 ERA and a 3.14 xERA on the season. He will face off against a hot Phillies lineup that is top ten offensively over the past month. Against RHP, which Cobb is, they are 7th with a wOBA of .322 and overall offensively they are 3rd this month with a wRC+ of 120.
Both starters have pitched well as of late, but one of these offenses has been thriving while the other is bottom ten in the league. Take the underdog here on the road in the Phillies at a plus price even though they are the better team.
PHI ML, +100.
